How do you like the magnectic ride? Any upcoming mods your thinking of doing?

I'm thinking of the CAGS bypass mod (prevents the forced 1-4 shift) and possibly XPel film or ceramic coating. And maybe the MGW short shifter, but really this tranny is already awesome so I doubt I'll do that one. |

For track the GS is the better option anyways the Z06 is way to much and if you have the AT you have overheating problems Im this close to selling my Nismo and buying a Z06 for Street/Cars and coffee duty , ive seen used ones for 70K when new they were 100K +

Go for it man! If you have the skill to tame the Z06 go for it! Me I decided to keep my Z. I still love my red seatbelts! |

I think the vette is insane. The Z06 seemed like a lot of car though if you're not running it on a drag strip. I think a GS with full breather mods is the sweet spot for the vette. Maybe some engine forging and cooling to roll out a 7,000rpm redline in a tune... I say big congrats to you. It's a special car in z06 form. But something tells me it's all about the GS.

I thinks the GS is the perfect in between...you get the looks of the Z06 but you get the functionality of a daily driver then the capabilities of a track car with a simple turn of a knob in the center dash. You get the magnectic suspension as standard.
The Z06 is a considered a dangerous vehicle to drive most specially to insurance companies. One said a $200 to $300 a month insurance for the Z06. Thats a lot of money for most people for one car for insurance. |

So many good points here. The C7 Z06 is breathtaking and I'm very happy for the OP. I also agree with the point that the Grand Sport is the real sweet spot for Vette ownership. It's not just the flared fenders and and 300-series tires and the "looks" of a Z06, it also has performance suspension and braking upgrades over a base but not quite the power of a Z06.
Still, most Vette owners, myself included, couldn't even drive a base Vette at its potential on a weekend autoX track. Like others, I wanted the looks, the gobs of naturally-aspirated power and the license to not have anything to prove to a fartcan Genesis or Porsche at a red light. The exhaust note is sublime and the glued-to-the-seat highway onramp bursts are addictive. I still love going into the garage and looking at that beast's low, wide stance. Then I walk back into my old kitchen and wish I could afford an overhaul and it occurs to me that I'm paying the equivalent of a house payment for a car I drive three or four times per month. It's like I'm saving it for the next guy but paying the depreciation for him as a gift. I also have a new Civic-T as a DD and my insurance agent told me I'm paying $80 per month more just for the Vette. I applaud the OP because I too went from my 370Z to a Vette but now that I've checked that off my bucket list, I'm looking to pursue some home projects and travel so I'm currently considering some options like an NC MX-5, Mustang and the 370Z again. Yeah, it's long in the tooth but I love the looks, decent power and price (used 2014). I tell myself I can save up for the forthcoming, mid-engined C8 but honestly, I don't mind considering Caribbean cruises and a new, outdoor BBQ kitchen. Anyway, congrats to the OP again and nice to see the 370Z crowd again. /misc. ramblings |

Nice to see you back MX. Its been awhile since.
Did you upgrade your C6 to C7? That is cool thanks for sharing your experience with the Corvette. Last edited by Zoren 370; 12-31-2016 at 01:15 AM. |

Gentlemen, my apologies for not seeing your responses sooner. Thank you Zoren. I still have a C6 GS because I would be buried under too much negative equity to jump onto a C7Z06 right now.
Ped, I couldn't have done it without the excellent instruction from MGW's YouTube channel. It may seem difficult at first but the video makes it a cinch. Same feeling between C6 and C7. A little notchier but more pleasant. I recommend the adapter so you can also run their 1lb shift knobs. Last edited by MX52Z; 01-08-2017 at 12:37 AM. |
