Ecoboost would have been nice, but I'm pretty sure the decision was made to exclude Ecoboost from the V6 to maintain V8 superiority.

Ford does offer factory installed superchargers on the V8 models through their FRPP arm. Full warranty coverage up to around 500-550 whp.

yep that would be the reason...I mean all you need to do is up the boost and bam your traveling in GT territory. The factory installed S/C is kinda why I brough up the whole TT from ford. I'm happy that ford realized that the 4.0 making a measly 210hp wasn't going to cut it. So now that this new 3.7 V6 with more power is out they can acutally do better comparisons with other cars, no more 370z vs. mustang GT. I def. can see an epic battle between the new mustang v6 and 370z... both are close when it comes to the engine specs, both have a 6sp m/t and IMO just basing on the current '10 v6 curb weight, a +200lb for the mustang. Advantages for the mustang is the price will probley be below 30k if you op for everything. I'm liking all these new cars coming out and gunning for the best v6...well except for honda and toyota lol

If I were ever to buy a non-Jap Sports car, it would definitely be the Mustang. That said, I'll stick with my Z till death do us part! Oh, and happy 2010 to all, guys!

Technically, the mustang is not a sports car its a muscle car. There's differences, the main difference is the mustang has a back seat

Anyways. I'm impressed with Ford finally putting the Mustang back on top of the Camaro oppression it's been under since '67

Now the real question is weight. When the car finally releases we'll see how much has truly changed, the new specs and everything I'm sure every Ford fanboy will drool over...

And now with the new v6 the v6 Mustang owners finally have something to brag about

lol we are going to have a crappy year in 2011. We are going to see these things everywhere. And if the GT does weigh around 3500 lbs, I think it would pull on a 370z even with full bolt ons.

It will be interesting, but I do not think the 5.0L is going to put the Mustang leagues ahead of the Z. What will probably happen is instead of the edge going to the Z (but still a close race); it will go to the Mustang (but still a close race). The big factor will be the aftermarket additions for the Mustang, as the current V8 already enjoys simple upgrades.

It all depends on weight and the figures I've seen are all over the place. If it's 3600 lbs and 412 hp w 390 ft/lbs of torque, no way a Z is gonna keep up straight line, but I've seen some claim it's gonna be something like 3875 lbs. The 'stang will still be faster, but only by a small bit.

Wait, wait, 3875? That seems really heavy... that's like 2010 Camaro SS heavy. If Ford does it right they'll keep the weight at a cool 3600 lbs. That seems to be the most likely scenario and a number that is seen here:

http://media.ford.com/images/10031/2...g_GT_Specs.pdf

3603 lbs, ESTIMATED, 5.0L v8, more horsepower than torque this time around, still NO IRS. But hey, everyone knows all the owners are going to either:
1) highway race
2) drag race
3) burnout,

so who needs it?

.....yep....although roush will probably come out with a trak pak like they did in 08.

Also anyone heard of the RTR mustang? I def. would go for this factory body kit rather than the DUB edition , plus they chose really nice wheels for it.

Thanks, wolf; you're correct, the pony is a muscle car. I do kinda classify it under the "Sports car" category, 'cause it's a fun car (at least, the older ones I've ridden were) to drive. The Camaro already had a recall--faulty alternator, if I'm not wrong--while Ford has the best reliability record for U.S.-manufactured cars. Greetings!

I saw that in an article but I also saw this one where they claim the 3875 lbs (est) here:

Official: 2011 Mustang GT Debuts With 412-hp, 5.0-Liter V8 : Auto News

reminds me of the wild weight swing claims before the Z came out. Time will tell.
