Haha, I really do appreciate everyones feedback. But Im considering the fact that the rebuilt title was due to a rear end collision and not a front accident or flood damage. Front end collisions can result in engine damage + structural damage. Rear end is primary structural. And as long as it was professionally repaired, I dont see the high risk with it. The best rebuilt title imo are theft recovery vehicles. But sadly this wasnt one of them. What are your opinions? And like I said, that GT-R was gone, the next maybe different. And im just pondering now, nothing to look at since he doesnt have one.

How do you know if it was "professionally repaired" or not?

Default Rebuilt Nissan GT-R R35

So the car got rear ended hard enough to total it? Isn't the most expensive part of the car (the transmission) in the back? Wouldn't that be an immediate deal breaker?

If you have to ask if a rebuilt title car is a good idea, it's not. If you have the skill set to repair and own a salvage title car, you're not asking about it on forums.

Rebuilt cars are usually good deals for mechanics. If your not a mechanic it's usually not a good deal.

Things that should just be red flags to anyone with a modicum of sense.
1. BUY HERE PAY HERE = IN HOUSE FINANCING WITH NO CREDIT CHECK - NO INCOME VERIFICATION - NO CO-SIGNOR NEEDED
No reputable person does this

2. 3 YEAR WARRANTY....All our rebuilt title cars are backed with an ironclad 3 year limited warranty on all repairs done to the vehicle. - WOW - CALL NOW
No reputable person does this

3. DIRECTIONS:... Look On Your Left Hand Side For A Sign That Says HELP WANTED
They don't list and address or name of their business

If you buy anything from this guy I'd like to sell you some Volcano Insurance.

I forgot the tranny was placed in the back, that does make a big difference and a salvage vehicle is best rebuilt by the person intending to own it. @nismo#91 how much for your insurance?

Well, we are pretty overdue for a volcano, especially here in Iowa.

So I was around the area today and thought it would be a great time to stop by the dealer and see if it was too good to be true. I followed the directions and found the big help wanted sign. The building was in one of those storage type facilities. Walked into a little beat up old office with mix and matched old chairs that were torn. Was greeted by an old huntchback man with a raspy voice. It was then that I knew my dreams went down the drain HAhaaa, it was funny at the same time for some reason. He took me into his office room and this was how it somewhat went:
Old man: How can I help you?
Me: I was expecting to walk into a nice car dealership, not into a little office room. Where are the cars?
Old man: This is the dealership, all of our cars are solely on special orders.
Me: I was interested in the GT-R
Old man: Your a little too late for that, was already sold. I have another one coming in a few days later but thats sold too. I have another one coming in 3 weeks but if you want it , you need to special order it and put something down.
Me: Are you retarded, so your telling me people purchase rebuilt cars without even looking at them?
Old man: Yes, well there are 2 types of people, first type who just call and ask questions. second type, those who take action.
Me: Im here to take action but you have no car old fart bag. Anyways, how much does one have to put down to order a car?
Old man: You tell me what car, make, model, color, engine, and I can magically make it appear but you have to put down half now. You can also be put onto a waiting list to die if the car does appear and no one wants to buy it, but chances of that happening are none.
Me: OK, put me down and lmk if you can get a unicorn.
Old man: Thanks, bye
(all while this guy was getting his phone blown up every 10 seconds for customers interested in cars that he doesnt have. He took down everyones number and told them he'll call them back)

True story

So buying a rebuilt GT-R from that guy isnt gonna happen. But my dreams arent crushed yet. Looks like Ill have to purchase one salvage thats in good condition and rebuild it myself. I already have the experience and shouldnt be too hard. But its not going to happen for a while until I save up and have the cash. But by then, Ill probably just finance a clean title one. Until then, Ill keep on dreaming. 370Z for now it is

In a rear end impact, what happens is the engine moves backwards on its mounts and the tailshaft will transmit the impact into the gearbox.

If the rear end is hit hard enough, you can see damage inside the engine to crank thrust washers, UJ issues with the driveline and in the R35 with gearbox and diff in one, issues inside the diff.

The only reason the repairer can make money out of such an accident repairer is that there are enough gullible people around to pay big money for a vehicle that was probably written off by the insurer and bought from a reclamation auction as a repair (hence "R" code).

The thing is most likely a PoS but don;t let us stop you from purchasing ... probability is that it will be a massive money pit.

Sounds like a chop shop front. Just sayin. You place an order, they go and steel the car, change VINs, and then deliver the car. LOL oh boy what a shady place.
