But Honda Civic R is also a FWD, and it ridiculously beats many of its competitors.

Nissan's JATCO has the world-best technology for their CVTs.

You still think Maxima isn't a sports car though ??

Sorry if you felt uncomfortable for my thread. I forgot to put a proper link.

I love my 370Z and will never get it changed to any new Civic R, but I just got surprised after reading that article.

Having the best CVT is like being the tallest midget in the room.

Personally I guess that CVTs will rule for low-HPs (less than 200~300HP?) and DCTs will do for high-HPs in near future.

In that Maxima's case, it has 300HP around so I believe the best CVT can cover it enough.

It is just my thought.

A CVT on a torquey motor is a death sentence. Didn't you read DE's post that explained how much they have to neuter the motor to keep the CVT from exploding?

The CVTs are notorious for exploding, even with normal driving.
Just replaced one on my buddy's 2011 Altima at 45k. My current POS Maxima will need one at about the same

VW and Audi has plenty of offerings in that power range pairing up with DSG boxes, however.
