He would get bored of a z06 because it will become his normal. It happens. There will be better and faster factory corvettes.

Of course, all you focus on is straight line performance. You know, the kind of stuff that DOESN'T matter because I'm pretty sure the OP doesn't drag race.

And I'm not going to waste my time sitting here arguing with you.

Yeah that's the viper T/A acr which is a 100k the z06 is 79k:rolleyes:

Slinky 07-24-2016 11:44 AM

Not sure if they improved longevity in the new zo6, but the passing conversations i've had with vette guys over the years makes me shy away from them. They talk about needing new piston rings and other engine component replacements between 50K and 100K miles. I hope it's not at common as they made it sound.

Roll your eyes all you want. It's still the same exact drivetrain. It's reliable. It doesn't burn up, blow up or leak. And it's still the better looking car.

TriNismo 07-24-2016 02:28 PM

At my gym, the car that I see the most up front in handicapped parking spots are corvettes. Take that however you will..

Still base on the old v10 truck engine which sound like crap

To you maybe it sounds like crap.

And who cares if it's a truck engine. So was the 5.4L in the Ford GT, and look how that car performs. What's your point?

You've been talked out of a Z06.... here!

Mods put this thread where it belongs.... "other vehicles"

Spstone 07-24-2016 04:27 PM

In the head to head same driver same track the Viper out ran the Z06. There is a lot of driver when it comes to speeds on a track so random youtube videos to me doesn't prove one is faster than the other. I've seen plenty of youtube videos of TT Z's eating up GTR's. Does that make all TT Z's faster, not always. **** I out ran a couple of 1st gen Z06's in my '67 mustang back in the day at the track. Not because it was faster, but because the driver hadn't gotten used to launching the car yet or when to shift for the best times.

This is the point I was trying to make. Let me put it this way GM is the only manufacture I've worked for at a large dealer that had 3 designated heavy duty techs (meaning engine r&r and rebuild all day long), 8 designated drivability/elec techs (myself included), 1 designated trans/driveline tech. And there was enough work to keep us all busy in that field (heavy duty even backed up for 3-4 weeks at a time). You simply will not see this is in a Japanese shop as most work is all 90% service and brakes (boring).

I know ford is similar to GM setup as is Chrysler but I would not buy one of those either.

Nah..besides the Viper will be discontinued next year or I think this is the last year. And the z06 has much more, carbon ceramic brembo brakes, carbon fiber roof and hood and a cool 7speed manual. Carbon ceramic brakes are like a 10k+ option on some cars. So the z06 is the best bang for your buck supercar.

For what it's worth, carbon ceramic brakes are a liability for the people who will really use them (on the track). It's not affordable to spend $8k on rotors every 10 track days, nevermind the performance doesn't justify it. If I had that option, first thing I'd do is take the calipers and rotors off, sell them, and replace with an AP Racing kit.

If you have the money, go for it.

I would stick with the Z since it's boosted so pretty fast and you're almost done paying it off. It feels great to have no car payment. If you had a ton of money and would just buy the z06 outright and have no worries about upkeep, I'd say go for that. BTW, you are probably getting a manual, but if not, the c7 auto transmissions overheat.

If you want real bang for the buck you cant go wrong with a C6 ZR1 like my 13 for sale,lol....638HP and rare to see... The Viper is > the C7 Z06 especially at the track when the Z06 overheats after 2 laps,lol..My 14 Viper...

Drew303 07-25-2016 05:06 PM

I might end up going for the 2017 Grand Sport instead of the Z06. Maybe

The mid engine has been a rumor for decades but not worth waiting for until we actually see an announcement, or you will die of waiting.
