PS: The simplicity is what drew me to the Z.

I get what you're saying, but I feel it's really all very relative.

ABS, "ice mode", yaw control, VDC, electronically controlled fuel injection (and end user tunable!), navigation system (complete with its own ECU), syncro-rev matching and fly-by-wire, VVEL, etc.

If you think about it, the Z is anything but a simple car -- except in relation to cars with older tech.

Me personally? I would be fine with electric motors (if batteries didn't suck in countless ways). I like the idea of having full torque at 1 RPM, and cleaner air to boot.

I think the order of importance for me anyway is this: High performance that is fun to use, reliability so I don't get stranded, and affordable, so I can both enjoy the car and still pay the bills for everything else on time.

No way, give me a Ford Model T retrofitted with a steam engine!

I completely agree, and my wishful thinking is that Toyota will do something clever like hook the rear end to the engine with a traditional driveshaft/differential and hook up the electric motors to the front wheel transaxles. This will give you the best of both worlds: immediate torque under the heavy part of the car to eliminate the drawbacks of a traditional sports car (getting traction), but maintaining feel of a sports car in the corners at speed. Oh, then you get all the other benefits of the hybrid, but also the weight. If they do it right, I will be keeping my Z, but getting the Supra as my "practical" car.

Not that much more to see since they still have those faux panels riveted to the quarter panels, but I am digging the overall shape and size:

I hope the camoflauge is making the headlights look like a 98 Supra. So wack up front. But the back is nice

I'm fully prepared to laugh my *** off if this is really the next-gen GT86.

Everyone keeps calling it a Supra, but after 20 years of waiting for this to happen... I'm mentally prepared for the ultimate troll job. But hey... I've been plenty wrong before :)

It looks like it has potential, regardless - the first thing I would do is Kate Beckinsale that thing and give it a proper nose job. Then... PRISTINE.

Just another render:

Like it says in the article, with that much camo on the front-end I am skeptical that it will be that round. Everything backwards on look awesome.

Don't think bmw and Toyota are doing a cross hybrid super sports car and badge it a low bargain basement gt86:rolleyes: lol no offense on the gt86 its a great entry sports car, but this is big news since the legendary supra is making a return.
