I think it depends on how easy it is to extract power from the new engine. That's why the old Supras became so popular. The stock car wasn't much better than 300zxs or 3000GTs from the same time, they just made loads of power easily with bolt-ons.

I guess we are getting closer on seeing the final production supra, from this picture we can get a good I idea on how it looks, even though it is slightly camo.

Good find! Goodwood starts next Thursday, so by the weekend we may see some real photos and impressions posted.

Looking forward to seeing the real car instead of all the speculation and empty promises that the internet is full of. Maybe a date and pricing, too.

I'm praying Nissan does one of their out of left releases and premiers a Z35... Just when Toyota thinks they gonna run the show. These new VC turbos might fair very interesting in a sports application.

Would love that too but the closest thing to a Z35 is on a napkin, long tossed away.

I think they made a typo on the new Supra weight as it states 2,300 pounds lol This will be a rocket ship if its true lol

Sorry to be a bubble burster again but in this clip of it running the hill at Goodwood
https://www.goodwood.com/grrc/event-...s-world-debut/
The announcers say "around 1500Kg", which makes it 3,300 lbs.

Ouch!

ZCanadian 07-13-2018 04:51 PM

It does sound nice, though!

If it's a project with BMW, they have my attention. The 335i's were beasts with barely any work. If they pair that with GT86 goodness... fairwell Z.

Could go either way.
Toyota reliability with BMW performance would be great.
But the opposite is also possible.
:rofl2:

I see the Supra as a Toyota (BMW) M2 in a sports car configuration.

If that's what it's gonna be? It's worth looking into getting one. I'm a hate trying to buy a Supra. Remember the FRS? YOU WEREN'T ALLOWED TO TEST DRIVE ONE THE FIRST YEAR. You hadda believe the hype and bullshyt n buy one to learn it was a slowmobile on prius tires so the tail can get happy due to the LACK of POWER.

It took 2 years to know the FRS was gahbige. Let the suckers buy the Supra first if they're not offering test drives.

In the words of public enemy, Don't Believe the Hype (at least instantly)

I'm hoping for the best and expecting the worst.

sunkist350z 07-17-2018 11:56 AM

Looks like a 4 cylinder with 265hp will be the base supra, I wonder how much more it will be priced then the gt86?
