Default Finally found it....

I've been looking for about a year for this. I wanted it to be clean, rust free, low mileage, great running, and not overly expensive which is a huge to ask for with this car.

But I found it, I pulled reverse psychology on fate or what ever in this world that kept this from me. So on mothers day i said out loud, to friends, family, god, the world and anyone else that was near me that I was giving up the search. So about 49 minutes later, during Mothers day dinner I secretly resumed my search and checked CL like we all do and with psychology reversed, there it was. Next day drove down and bought it.

And now i would like to introduce...my main chick, my wife stepped aside into the side chick position and i appreciate her for doing so. Drum roll please....

280Z, right? Definitely not a 240 or first year 260. I don't recall if fuel injection was introduced on the 260 or 280.

yes its a '77 280z. I believe 260z was only available 1 year, 1974.

thank you, this was sitting garaged between an Aston Martin and new Bmw and I didn't realize it until after I left that I didn't care to even admire the other 2 vehicles at all. The guy probably thought I was crazy that I didn't say anything about his Aston but kept saying how amazing the 280z was lol.

From Wikipedia: "This model was sold in the United States for the 1974 model year only, but was available in other countries until 1978".
Technically, we're both right. Great find.

Awesome find! I'm with Terrible, any mod plans? Or are you just looking to keep it as is?

100% jealous.

Thanks! Yeah plans for now are going to be all suspension, brakes, and wheels. Fronts rotors and pads are new, but those will be getting swapped with a wilwood 4piston big brake kit, rear will receive a disc brake conversion with wilwood big brakes as well. Not many coilovers available unless I go the ground control adjustable spring type coilovers with some konis but decided i'll do BC coilovers. Also will be doing Technotoytuning arms, tc rods front/rear, well basically whatever they have available suspension wise.

Wheels are still undecided, of course watanabes were the first wheels i thought of but its like s2000 and enkei rpf-1s, its a given combo. Thinking along the lines of ssr or ccw, not sure yet though.

Other then that, depending on wheel choice i'll decide on flares or not, always planned on them but to finally find a clean, rust free 280z i've really started to second guess cutting up the body. But...at the same time a set of 9.5 wide -10 ccw classics won't fit without them lol.

Niiiiice!!! Looking at the pictures with both Z together. The 280 looks so slim, while the 370 looks like a brawler.

Good mod plans, I think the true coilovers are a much better choice than koni/ground control! Keeping the stock motor? Or are you just starting with suspension before moving to power?

It is going to be a head turner when you are finished. I second the fender flares, the car just looks too flat without at least some small fender flares!

Yeah there's a huge difference, my 230 lbs frame feels it. It wouldn't be so bad if the seat weren't so high, I guess I need to add low rails and racing seats to my list lol.

Yeah i totally agree with you about coilovers and flares. Motor i'm still stuck on, it drives great so at least I know I really don't have to decide too quickly. The only thing my 280z is lacking is a/c which I definitely want/need. So options for me are doing a 3.1 LE28 stroker with itbs that way I can add a/c and it wouldn't matter whether before or after the build or saying f it and swap an rb25 and just enjoy the ride while the sweat pours from my face. Not really needing too much power, i'd be fine with around 250rwhp since its lightweight.
