2016 Mazda CX-9
I typically hate SUV's and Crossovers. I have no use or interest in them but... I can't ignore quality, value and artistic value of a good design. Mazda went above & beyond with it's newest iteration of the CX-9. It looks like a luxury vehicle.

Should have a manual :stirthepot:

You're right... It should. These are precisely the proper vehicles for an 9 speed manual excluding neutral and reverse, so you can consistently row gears till your hearts content. |
I was thinking a 18 speed.
In all seriousness it does look pretty good for a crossover |

An FD can hardly be compared to modern day Mazda vehicles. I looked at all of them last year for my wife and they're all the same. We loved the 6, but it is far from "quality". Its amenities are on par with everyone else and the execution is "meh". The problem is it feels soooo god damn cheap, and that's because it is. Plastic leather, infotainment should be shamed to death, power is pathetic, and structural integrity of the body is that of aluminum foil. Got in a fender bender and my body guy told me the panels on the 6 are some of the thinnest of every car he sees. The MPG is great though. I call them recyclable cars, but then again most are these days.

The interior is pretty damn good too.

I remember taking the ex wife to test drive the Mazda 3s. She wanted a stick and we took it out on the test drive. I'm in the back, while my ex and sales guy is up front. When my wife was in the middle of the test drive she said... I don't know? It doesn't have a lot of power.
Sales guy said... "You might want to drive it spirited. My wife got on the gas but just didn't shifting at the right points to wake the car up I guess? Well the salesguy tells her pull over.... They switch and he drove!!! I was like... Wow! This thing is out... I test drove the Rx8 and for street driving. It's power level wasn't horrible. I was able to hit the right shift points and ring a torquey feel though down on torque on paper. I've driven the Cx7 & current Cx9 and I really wouldn't want to drive another crossover performance wise. They feel like sports cars... But to each his own. |
I love my Mazda 3. I picked it up over the summer as a cheap daily driver. It's fun to drive if you ignore the fact it's slow. Really, really slow. But it gets 40mpg on 87 octane, you can get cheap tires since the wheels are tiny and it handles surprisingly well for an econobox.
The up side of a car this slow is that you're not tempted to mod the power train. There's no point. |
