Can't wait for this powerplant, I am sure a simple tune will bring that 350torque up into 400 range.
The real question is how will this reflect on the prices of used 370s and is this a good time to dump the platform while waiting for the new one? I remember when the 370 first came out and hit the dealer lots the used prices for lightly used 350s dropped a good chunk (I know because the price for my 08 with 20k miles went from ~24k down to 18k pretty much overnight. |

I think I may just keep my 370 forever. at this point no reason to sell it and get a low amount back. |
On the interim values dropped on the 350z substantially, but after 2 years they climbed up and stagnated fora few years before going back down

With this engine the Z car is relavent again! Take some sales from the Chavy and the blue oval. Nissan just needs to nail the redesign. Even at 3200 would be wonderful!!

I'll just put this out there - a major platform/chassis revision for the Z could be looming to make the following work for its lineup -
The 300hp version would be the base configuration. The Nismo would get the 400hp. 300hp on a platform that cuts a bit of weight from the 370 could make for a base model that performs right along with the current Nismo (the TORQUE EVERYWHERE is my reasoning). The Nismo version with an additional 100hp would be enough to command the pricing premium - I think most everyone bitched about the Nismo only being another 18hp. For another 10k with all a proper set of forged wheels, giant brakes that don't overheat, a helical limited slip differential, trick rev-matching transmission, and another 100hp on a boosted platform? Where do I sign? |

go back to the option setup of the first few years. the new option setups Nissan has in place really makes me think they go grab handicapped monkeys and have them pick how it all goes together. although if it's still all fuckin whacky for the next model I really hope the nismo tech 7at is an option because I will go with that rather than not being able to have a nice interior and all the performance goodies too. |
Personally I see nothing wrong with a 2 liter turbo 300/300 at 3k pounds at $30k. Put some tech in there, etc at $36k. NISMO gets the 3 liter 400/350 turbo at $39k, etc. Add a few things you're playing in performance/price with ford and Chevy at $42k. It'll be as quick but more intimate as a 2 seat fighter jet.

Hope it will be offered in manual. I'm going to post this news on the BMW forum, this will irritate the **** out of them.

The infiniti Q30 has been paired with a DCT. I know that's just a 4 banger. But it gives me hope that we may see a transmission shift with the Z. As the equivalent GLA 45 carries a standard 7 speed automatic transmission and we have DCT though we share engines The DCT is in the AMG version which shows that Nissan is still looking to have its own technological identity.

well info on the infiniti side for the q50/60 and this engine. knowing Nissan the Z wont be spoken of until the month before launch. |

Typical Nissan. |
The Q60 better give the Jaguar F-Type S a run for it's money when it comes to exhaust sound. It's all about exhaust noises. That's whose getting my money. Cuz all these cars perform well.

also i will say i think the current braking (sport option/mismo) isn't bad on the Z. I've never had issues with them and feel they work well. |

The list was geared to the Camaro. Not reflective of what I expect in the Z. It's just amazing how well Chevy listened. I'm just hoping for the same quality in the redesign process with the Z. Our brakes our fine. They just need standard brake cooling throughout the range. |
Does anyone know how large is the motor in dimensional terms?
Wondering if an engine swap into the current Z be feasible over the standard route of turbocharging the VQ37VHR? (Where I'm from, a TT conversion costs well over $30k) |
Really turbo kit as much as the car itself? I thought the top of the line HKS turbo kit was the most expensive at 10k?

Check his location. Also the true cost to do FI property is close to if not more than $20k here in the U.S. |

Not to mention the car is 70k new here.
A factory TT Z sounds great to me. However, the "integrated turbo manifolds" worry me a lot when it comes to modding potential. If the are a big restriction for some reason, throwing larger turbos on there may be pretty damn costly. I'm also a little worried by the peak torque at 1600-5200 rpm thing. That basically means the turbos are tiny and they are trying to do their best to hide the fact they are there at all. Sure modern turbo engines are fast and efficient. But I'll take the excitement a bit of good old turbo lag brings over efficiency any day. |

Was about to post.... I think WE GOT A WINNER???

It's all going to come down to cost for me. It'll be great unless they jack the price $20k.

The new Infiniti Q60 is a svelte luxury sports coupe with 400 horsepower | The Verge
Looks like that 4 banger Z may happen after all? |

400HP TT on the alpha platform with possible Camaro suspension underneath but sexy styling. sign me up lol |
again I will say from concept to production the Q60 is underwhelming a bit.
the exterior is good but man the concept seemed plausible to keep that aggressive but it got toned down a bunch. the side view I really just see a maxima with a front fender vent. the gem here is the engine. its the hope that the next Z (if one presents itself) has that engine and they style it correctly. if not, it's time to move on from Nissan I think. many other great options are available or soon to be available. |

BTW i like the Q60 coupe :p |
I better win this 1.3 billion lotto, for there are so many cars I need to own.
