Ride height looks fine in the pics? More "sports car" height than the stock Z.

If the steering is anything like the M3/M4, it will be pretty good.

Sports car... I believe these are called sport coupés.

Did the math and configured the M2 the way I want it. Here's the breakdown...

Assuming base price is $51,000.00
+
______________________________________________
2MK – M-DKG Drivelogic
248 – Steering wheel heating
3AG – Reversing camera
430 – Interior/outside auto dimming mirror with dip
431 – Interior rear-view auto dimming mirror
459 – Seat adjustment, electric, with memory
488 – Lumbar support, driver and passenger (electric)
494 – Seat heating, driver and passenger
563 – Light package
6AK – Connected Drive Services
6AM – Realtime Traffic
609 – Navigation Professional
654 – DAB Tuner
674 – Harman Kardon Professional
_______________________________________________
Total Options: $9,425.00
+
Destination & Handling: $995
=
TOTAL: $61,420

I did the best I could getting accurate pricing for options by using current pricing from multiple BMW models. This is obviously a guesstimate but at least gives an idea of what it would cost. I've been driving a BMW for the past 12yrs and am currently on my fourth Bimmer, so I'm quite familiar with how BMW markets their cars. BMW also tends to offer some options individually while others are lumped together in a package. Sometimes it works out in your favor where a package has all the options you want and comes in less expensive then if purchased individually. Other times it doesn't, because they lump in other options into a package which you cannot purchase individually.

With that in mind the pricing may come in a lot less depending on packages or you'll find yourself paying less because you'll skip a package altogether since the one or two items you want are bundled with several others you don't. You also need to keep in mind these are MSRP numbers. I think the M2 will be selling like hotcakes for a while so don't really see you getting much below MSRP, maybe $500 if you're lucky. Chances are better in the off season where you can negotiate lower, possibly 1,500.00~$2,000.00 depending on sales and demand. BMW also offers incentives during that time such as low financing, rebates of around $1,000.00 and even free upgrade of options ranging from $800.00~$1,500.00.

To answer the question; can a "sensibly" well equipped M2 be had for under $60,000? The answer is YES (not including tax!).

You have a good point there. Of all the mods that I have done so far, the Z1 rotors may have improved the feel of the Z the most. Arguably my favorite so far.

M4 feels artificial.
The Z even needed a one inch drop. Height as in frs. The one thing they got 100% right.
And these sport coupes talk a lot of sports car shyt so I call them sports cars. E46m3 was a sports coupe that did sports car shyt sooo...

The M235 is seems to get higher praise for balance, which I like to hear... But I hear people say things like... It's not the best steering feel in the world. People tend to downplay how bad it is due to the brand. But I didn't care for the M4 steering feel AT ALL.

When I test drove the M4 I felt like I was in a blinged-out, really fast Camry coupe. Not too bad, but I wasn't inspired. The manual version had the longest clutch throw I have ever experienced. That freaked me out.

I don't blame you guys at all for not liking the steering feel. I have a 2013 335i and BMWs EPAS certainly isn't anything like Porsche's.

I respect BENZ for what they did with their amg gts in terms of keeping the hydraulic rack. It gives the car a personality and I'm hoping that when I test drive that one... I won't be disappointed? I doubt it though.

Almost bought a C400, but before I commit to these pricier cars I want to make sure I want to keep them more than 3 or 4 years. The C400 thus far is the best electric steering rack to date that I've tested it has perfect resistance without the artificiality, and gets just barely enough feedback to feel like you're driving a real car. It's pretty aggressive and I want to try the c450 sport. It's BENZ version of a bimmer IS model.

I've ditched cars altogether in favor of motorcycles for the ultimate level of feedback!

Thanks for making this statement. You proved my point from 4 years ago about electronics and EV technology zapping the life out of cars.

I was anti-overengineering, you were pro...

My point was about vehicles losing their soul for accuracy. You claimed sports will still be fun based on the power levels we will achieve. You agreed to disagree.

4 years later, your feedback is coming from bikes. Which is great. I used to ride off road bikes in PR many moons ago. So I feel you but...

SPORTS CARS are amazing when done right.
We need a Alfa 4c performance clone in more sports cars, with the option of a manual. That shouldn't be hard.

Haha! It's not that at all. I've just decided that, for the money, I'd rather buy a bike! They are so much more economical. I paid $2000 for my first bike and have had more fun on it than any of my other cars combined. Next year I might spend $5-10k and buy another bike, and have even more fun.

I still love a "over-engineered" Porsche 911, I just don't give enough ***** to pay for one! It's a taste change, and proves nothing!

I view cars now less as tools for fun and more as just tools. I still like them and I still get enjoyment from them, but after discovering the two-wheeled world everything has changed. Driving a car, no matter how good, just doesn't even come close to the excitement of riding. It's visceral, man. You're so exposed to... everything.

I dig bikes but i'll probably never own one. I have an issue with high speed lol

also I've grown up around bikes/bikers through my dad and his friends and it's not the issue of the bike being dangerous. it's the fact that most drivers on the road are idiots.
