The car is priced higher in the UK market than it is in the US market. In the UK, it is limited to 500 units with a base price of 44,070 GBP, or about $68k here. The options are more expensive as well.

Meanwhile it starts at $51k in the US market... no word (that I've seen yet) on planned production numbers.

see this is why I keep you around lol I didn't know they were doing that in the UK I've just getting on the research for this.

sidenote: I don't agree with the super low production numbers for cars like this. doesn't make sense. make your money if there's demand. it's not a 3 million dollar hyper car that the likes of Ferrari make 5 of or something. that's a little different....it's a beefed up 235.

The more I see it, the more I like it, but unlike the M4, which would have replaced my Z, I am looking at the M2 as a complementary car for winter and more practical driving. So the price seems to be right, but they need to offer it in XDrive for me to even consider it. I would also get the automatic. So I guess I have to wait even longer to find out if I am even interested in it.

The more I see it the more I like it. It is much more sporty than the M4, which is just a bit too stretched out and when seeing them on the road they don't really get me too excited.

Idk, at this point the amount of "M" models is kind of out of control. Is there really a need to have an M version of every car they make? It kind of detracts from the essence of what the car is to me.

I think it's smart. you got the groups of people who end up getting the 235 or 335 or whatever and adding the little baby M stuff to not spend the extra 10/20/30k for the M version itself. but the way they did it now with the M2 comin in 10K less MSRP than the M3/M4 should help move more units. that's the point in the end really is moving units.

regardless fo if you feel it's oversaturation or on the flip it's good to branch out I personally dig the M2.

hell if the M4 wasn't the cost of a GT-R after you add a couple options that would be a nice car to have as well lol

I think it makes sense for the 2, 3&4, and 5. The M SUVs are silly but people buy them.

Now the M-Sport line, as an M-Sport owner, is kind of silly. I wish they didn't have as much M branding on what really isn't an M car, but apparently it sells.

This will be an unpopular statement, but I totally agree with you especially about the M3, M5 and M6 Grand Coupe (it's a f**king sedan). If you have 4 doors, what is the point about souping up a practical means of conveyance. When I have passengers in the car, I want to get them there as safely as possible in a comfortable manner. Plus people weight a lot. Now I suppose if I lived in Germany and I drove the autobahn I would have a different opinion.

The M2 is different in that there is no sedan version of the model, meaning it is a pure sports coupe, and for me that makes it slightly more practical than my Z, plus it has a lot more zip than the 2-series. It looks cool too. This puts me in their target market (provided that they offer it in XDrive).

Just because something has 4 doors doesn't mean it has to be simply about practicality and efficiency. There is no rule that says only 2 door cars can be for performance. There are plenty of 4 door cars out there that are better sports cars than many 2 door cars.

BMW M2 Visualizer Shows Us Some of the M Performance Parts

From the article:
You might consider that the €12,000 difference between the M2 and M4 might be justified, but then again, you don’t get as many carbon fiber parts on the new model as you do on its bigger brother. With the M Performance parts, you can make up for some of that ground but not to great lengths.

Are you saying that the 1) Panamera is better than the 911 or Cayman 2) M3 is better than the M4 3) SS is better than the Corvette 4) Maxima or Q50 is better than the Z....

With that being said, the M2 isn't even a sports car. You are talking me out of even considering it 😝

I never once said any of those cars are better. I only said that your position on four door performance cars is ridiculous. It's as if you believe it is impossible for a four door car to perform "like a sports car" and therefore it's a waste. They should only be used for menial point A to point B transportation, according to you.

Ridiculous, I say!

Edit: Oh and the M3 and M4 are "about the same," however the M3 is better because it looks better.

The M2 will probably be more of a sports car than our front-heavy dump truck of a 370Z.

Those air dams are ugly as f#ck
Are they going to fix that numb azz steering?
What's the ride height going to be like?
Are they lowering this thing to a respectable sports car height?

Tired of cars labeled as sports cars feeling like conservative GT's.
