There's no comparo between any new BMW and Benz. I wonder which company is holding out on the comparo sponsorship?
The way BMW has been shortchanging themselves... I'm sure Mercedes is way more comp than most expect in these new gen models.

This. Bmw is superior to track performance . Mercedes v8 Amg just sounds better . Overall speed and handling goes to any bmw. The e92 m3 also looks better and handles way better than the last c63.

I know my opinion on these euro sports coupes isn't popular, but the only point of these to exist is that someone with a lot of money wants a semi-practical car that they can show off (i.e. as status symbol). Would anyone in their right mind actually buy one of these over a Porsche or a Corvette (or other true sports car) for a dedicated track car?

As lame as it sounds, if I wanted a TRUE PRACTICAL daily driver, I would go for a Toyota or a Lexus. As much as I love Porsches and Vettes, I am very satisfied with my Z as it is very fun and as sexy as a car can get.

Honestly I think I would feel silly driving around in a Ferrari or even a high-end Porsche, but as a white-collar guy, with a blue-collar mentality I just can't relate to rich people.

Please bash me a will :tiphat:

I'm not feeling the styling, but the AMG v8 always makes pleasing noises

I see your logic behind what you are saying to a degree. As I had the same mentality... Being that the premium market is drastically growing and the sub-premium sports car market is once again shrinking. Affordable monikers like Supra and NSX will now be in the GT-R range. And rumors of the next Z being a crossover? That's another can of worms... LMFAO! Effin' Nissan...:shakes head:

I think some people who can afford a little more May be looking for a one car does it all vehicle... Cars like the C63, M4, GT-R & RS-5 fall into a separate market...

Corvette, R8 and such are basically track cars. You are not going to get an enormous edge in performance street driving cars like that. So the comfort and convenience of the other cars will win the hearts of men that have a varied interest in how their vehicles are used.

I personally look at it as a luxed out muscle car and I'd strongly consider it. The likelihood of making the purchase is questionable based on the competition, yet still remains a strong possibility

Unknown, I agree with your comments above.

At my age now, with my kids done with college and working at good jobs (meaning I have a lot more disposable income). I just want one car that does it all and looks good at the same time.

This C63, M4, 2017 Q60 (high hp version) or possibly the M2 could realistically be in my garage replacing the Z before the end of 2016.

My enthusiasm for the M2 ebbs and flows with every various render that I see. The latest is pretty intriguing: BMW M2 to be unveiled in October - Rendering

IF it comes with the XDrive option it may change my opinion about BMWs and sport coupes in general.

Mahalo Zeda, I've been following bimmerpost for awhile and these renderings as well as some others are on there. I'd really like to see what the Infiniti Q60 comes out with before acquiring any new car.

Like you, white collar profession/income but blue collar roots. So even if I enjoy cars and can spend more on a car, it's still hard to get rid of the, "get the best bang for your buck" mentality. Guess that's why I enjoy the Z :driving:

Front air vents are horrendous

I don't understand why they have that hideous non-flush navi screen! it looks so out of place!

I think they overdid those in the rendering. Hopefully they are more like the M4's.

BMWs are similar, which I agree doesn't look good at all. They must be trying to get the display as high as possible to reduce distraction when using them.

:icon14:

Track handling - I agree
AMG sound - I agree

Speed/horse power goes to the AMG Merc every time however.
Looks are subjective

The new 205 chassis coupe reminds me of a smaller 222 chassis coupe in my opinion. I have seen a couple of the new c63 AMG sedans come into my dealership and they sound amazing. The new 4 liter biturbo v8 is quite the beast especially with a backwards exhaust. There is hardly any turbo lag from what I hear from the other technicians who get to road test them after they have worked on them. The inside of the car looks very well layed out. I have yet to work on one.

UNKNOWN_370 09-11-2015 07:48 PM

Looks like contrary to popular belief. In the sedan world...
The Cadillac ATS-V was the fastest around a track.
The MB C63 AMG was second fastest
The 63 was the BEST DRIVERS CAR.

The BMW came in last place.
