Yup, they can't even get the name right. Quadrifoglio, not "Quattrofoglio"
They apparently tested the knock-off from Audi!

Stupid. Though their conclusion is right. If you are not enough of a man to buy a true sports car for fear your perfectly quaffed hair might be disturbed or your Tommy white jeans may get soiled, then buy the more reasonably priced TI version. Not everyone needs to set a Nurburgring lap record on their commute or when picking up the kids from school!

I really love this car......except for the price. Just saw a test of one where it destroys everything but they showed it's price as tested being 85k.

I'll have a gtr over it any day.

Hell, if you asked them today if they were selling the Giulia, they'd deny it. Seriously - communication is not their strong point. It isn't among their top 100 strong points.

Here's some food for thought. FCA is hurting and Alfa Romeo is one of the sources of the hemorrhage. Every deadline that Marchionne and Wester have put forward for the brand, have been missed by miles. The 2014 plan for Alfa was to have 8 new models and 400,000 units worldwide sales by 2018. Other than the pitiful MiTo and the long-in-the-tooth Giulietta which we don't get here, they have made about 6,000 4C's since inception in 2014. The lights go dim on that car in 2017 or early 2018, by all accounts. By then, a global total of perhaps 7,500 will have been made (fewer than 2,000 a year). We figure that they are taking a loss on every car, and that's all they ever wanted to build. It was basically a halo to announce the return of the marque to N. America and to herald the "global reboot" of Alfa Romeo in 2015.

Giulia has only just gone on sale - even in Europe, they saw their first sales cars very late in 2016. They sold 100 so far in N. America. Obviously, that will ramp up as production allows. But as good as their cars are, Management at Alfa in Italy is truly abysmal. They probably don't have nearly the production capacity to meet demand for this car (much less to expand into BRIC nations where any profitable player needs to be anymore). I'll eat a V-8 if they sell close to 100,000 of these this year. More likely 50K.

Stelvio, the new SUV, was supposed to hit store shelves last fall. it won't likely see sales in 2017.

Dealers have not been informed (even on the QT) of further models. Anything else is just speculation (such as the Giulia Coupe, the Sportwagon, the 6C, a new Dino, or a Montreal). Priorities change, and do do finances. Just look at the ready-for-production Maserati Alfieri. Dealers were taking deposits on that since 2014, and it has totally fallen off the radar.

So, what happened to Marchionne's grand plan? Well, Harald Wester got booted back to the benches, and Reid Bigland has taken over as CEO of Maserati and Alfa Romeo. There are only two new models on showroom floors (with the 4C to fade to black, and the Stelvio to come in around the end of this year). And that 2018 deadline - is now officially 2020.

Grab a ride in a 4C or Giulia while you can. They are spectacular cars. Living, breathing embodiments of 100+ years of racing history and (except for the last 20 years or so) automotive excellence. Reading Alfa lore is the kind of stuff that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. And the people and technology that came out of the marque are legend in the industry. I truly hope that Alfa Romeo is here to stay, and that it can maintain its current relative independence. Cars like these should never have made it past accounting. But that is the Italian way!

Looks like the Stelvio will be Coming sooner than later. It's been added to the line up as a pre-production model. My guess would be probably in November like the Giulia.

I hope you are right. But having watched Alfa Romeo closely for the past 3-1/2 years, I can tell you that's not a guarantee just yet. Still, a hopeful sign.

I practically wore out the configurator for the 4C, in the year between my original interest in the car and its actual arrival. But they are getting better now. You can actually even track your order now (something that the Germans have allowed you to do since the dawn of time, but apparently it's a new concept in Italy!!!).

Saw one in the flesh for the first time this week.
Quadrifoglio edition.
Curiously, Alfa has dropped the "verde" from the moniker. Previous performance variants have been called Quadrifoglio Verde (for the green four leaf clover charm they carry), or QV for short. I guess they figure that's too big a mouthful for North Americans to handle, but then they offer it in colours like "Rosso Competizione", LOL!

The car is smaller than I expected. In a good way. Definitely sporty. Interior is as stunning as the exterior. Italians can do leather like no others. The display flows nicely into the dash, and the wheel and shifter paddles are perfect. No 3-pedal variant in our or most markets for this car.

In Natural mode, the car is silent. Switch to Race and it sounds amazing. Way better than any twin turbo 2-litre has a right to sound. The active aero front splitter deploys, and the driving dynamics are completely changed. I didn't take it for a drive, but thinking I may have to. There's an open house at our dealership next month, and they want my car on display anyway. Might have to make that part of a reciprocal arrangement.

The biggest barrier to ownership is the price. This one, in Q trim and with every option except the available carbon seats and ceramic brakes (both priced much more reasonably than those by Porsche or Ferrari) priced out at CDN$97,000 before tax. Still, the base car is available for just over half that, and can be optioned up nicely for around CDN$70K, where it should sell quite well.

I was impressed with the package. If the marque can get traction, and if Alfa gets its abysmal customer service situation sorted out, then they really could give BMW a run for their money. Probably not so much Mercedes, but that was never really in the cards. Those are big"if's", though.

Same body as all the rest of the sedans with a slightly different front end and bumper and a huge $$ price tag all wrapped into one of the most unreliable brands ever.....
Hell you can buy a Pontiac G8 looks similar for 18k....

That's ine way to look at it.
Another is that you are buying into the history of one of the most storied brands in motorsport. A G8 is a Chevy, and will forever own that. Well, not forever - at 40,000 miles, the sun visor will fall off. At 45, the seat recline lever will break. By 60K, you'll have replaced 3 wheel bearings 3 times. If you're not so sick to death of the cheap plastic interior and bonded pleather interior, that you've already sold it, that is.

There's something about an Alfa that truly gets under your skin. They've had some bad times, for sure. But some amazingly brilliant cars as well.

Sorry, that's comparing apples to dandelion seeds.

The Giulia has a Ferrari California engine with 2 cylinders lobbed off and two turbos to replace the lost cylinders. It has a ZF single clutch automatic transmission, 510HP and I think when you buy the Ti you're getting a bargain. The Giulia is appropriately priced for what it is. It only has 3 options. Ceramics, racing seats and
A manual transmission in Europe. So you basically buy a loaded car. Option out an M4 and u pass Giulia pricing by $9,000

It's the fastest sedan around the nurburgring.
Hey if you don't like it? I get it. One man's trash is another man's treasure. But a G8 is an outdated POS that compares to the worst M5 ever made. Not much of a feat and nowhere near the same ball park as this sedan.

The pic you chose is also an overstatement to the realistic appearance of a g8 if you bought one right now... smh. Somebody please post a pic of a G8 from cars.com? I'm on my cell and can't right now...

Lets clarify things the Giulia Ti is not the fastest sedan around the Nurburgring...the Giulia Quadrifoglio is...Big price difference between the two. The Ti is priced around 40k and the latter priced over 72k+

The GXP G8 is a POS I agree, thats my point...but that POS looks similar to the Alfa which honestly should look much better since your paying a TON more. That POS G8 also has 415 Hp versus the Alfa Ti version of the Giulia which if I am not mistaken has 280 Hp ..The GXP G8 did 0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds vs the TI doing over 5 seconds and quarter mile times? G8 13.0 seconds vs Ti 13.6....The GXP G8 also did Nurburgring in 8.30 thats 58 seconds slower than the 70k + version but definitely faster than the Ti version...pretty good for a outdated POS that cost 2.5 X less than the TI and 4x less than the Quadrifoglio.

The Ti is a bargain? Alfa has had a history of unreliability and high cost repair. Typical of Euro garbage...See the consumer reports on how reliable and what a "great bargain" it is...
Consumer Reports' 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Ti Basically Lives at Dealer
That "bargain" just got more expensive. Cost of fixing a euro car just added to our price tag. Cost of fixing a G8 low ...real low. Not to mention the G8 gets a LS3 V8 which is bullet proof and highly reliable not a direct injected carbon build up maintenance problem like the Alfa Ti engine.

I think with the 25k to 58k saved you can make any G8 look as good as the one I posted. Would I buy a G8? No but would I but a G8 over a Ti if I had no other options for 2x less ..YES. ..So for a POS which I agree it is...the G8 makes the Alfa Ti kinda look like a high cost, unreliable, bigger POS.......
