Hey if you don't like it? I get it. One man's trash is another man's treasure. But a G8 is an outdated POS that compares to the worst M5 ever made. Not much of a feat and nowhere near the same ball park as this sedan.

The pic you chose is also an overstatement to the realistic appearance of a g8 if you bought one right now... smh. Somebody please post a pic of a G8 from cars.com? I'm on my cell and can't right now...
Yup, damn sexy car. Not. The newest examples of it are 7 years old now. 6-speed automatic. The best part about it was that it wasn't really a Pontiac. Holden made some very good cars. Kudo's to them. Unfortunately, they have gone the way of Pontiac now.

If that's what you want to spend your money on, SINISTER, more power to you. Cuz yes, you will have more power. And likely more headaches. And no warranty to deal with whatever may arise.

That "bargain" just got more expensive. Cost of fixing a euro car just added to our price tag. Cost of fixing a G8 low ...real low. Not to mention the G8 gets a LS3 V8 which is bullet proof and highly reliable not a direct injected carbon build up maintenance problem like the Alfa Ti engine.

I think with the 25k to 58k saved you can make any G8 look as good as the one I posted. Would I buy a G8? No but would I but a G8 over a Ti if I had no other options for 2x less ..YES. ..So for a POS which I agree it is...the G8 makes the Alfa Ti kinda look like a high cost, unreliable, bigger POS.......

As far as history goes, YOU LEAVE OUT ONE MAJOR FACTOR.... The Giulia has been designed from the ground up.... Now maybe the quad has a brand new engine. But the lower cars have the tiger shark engine which is a reliable motor. Dodge tends to have transmission and electronic issues.... but dodges don't have ZF transmissions...

I mean you can blah blah blah all day about unreliable platforms from two decades ago that have NO BEARING on the Giulia all new design. Or you can wait and see if Alfa indeed hit a homerun.

Overall though. An Alfa is the equivalent of an affordable Ferrari. There's a lot to be said about it's performance. Even if it ends up being a car you trade once the warranty is up? It still kills EVERYTHING out there by a landslide. And that no one can argue.

Consumer Reports has ONE CAR to write about bruh. And it's a first model year. You're not making a case yet. Besides CR calls the Z a nightmare and I've NEVER had ONE problem.

Its not a bargain...I made a case your just blind and think your buying a Ferrari stop with that b.s. it cant even go quarter in 13.5 seconds and has less than 300 hp....that aint no Ferrari..."bruh"..
I picked a g8 because it looks like crap similar to the Alfa but in all honesty if I needed 4 seats...I would go for something better looking and more reliable like a q60 or G37...

Likely more headaches?...the LS3 as I mentioned, and you did not read I guess is a solid platform. I owned a 2006 Pontiac GTO with the LS2 engine, Two corvettes with both ls3 engines and I never had 1 problem ever....euro cars are all nightmares, and on top of that the alfa romeos are known historically for being unreliable nightmares.... click on the link in my post they couldn't even give consumer reports a good one ...

Are you saying that Euro cars are more reliable than Japanese built cars like our Z?

Euro cars are known for being less reliable and the Alfa Romeo in particular.

Yes, I have owned multiple Euro cars 2 VWs, 1 Mercedes and a BMW M3 with the S65 engine this is where my hatred began.......connecting rod bearing clearance issues results in engines going boom...I would call that a nightmare...

Yes, Alfa left these shores about a generation ago due in part to quality problems. Seems to me, another manufacturer was in a similar situation about 10 years prior. They essentially kept selling here but changed the brand name to lose the baggage. What was that make again? I can't quite put my finger on it ;-) . And quite frankly, they still have a quality problem. Can you say "CSC" on our cars, or transmissions on GT-R's? How about transmission cooling issues on Frontier/Xterra? Ignition systems on Sentra? Nissan just walks away from those like a dog away from a turd, and somehow gets away with it.

In 1996, Alfa was a bloated, government-owned car maker concerned with keeping unions happy at the expense of the taxpayer and the customer. Now, it's one of the big hopes of growth for FCA (though it's never going to materialize in numbers that matter).

The MiTo and Giulietta, cars we've never seen in N. America, have actually a pretty good rating as far as long term quality goes. In a much different league than the new lineup from Alfa Romeo, no question there.

As for the Consumer Reports article, I don't know. I only pick that rag up when I run out of toilet paper. I've never had a use for it, and am surprised any thinking person does. Perhaps just this time because it supported your point? I could understand that.

Csc? 2k and you get it fixed right and your done....25k is what a M3 s65 engine costs. Big difference your comparisons are silly....plus euro cars are plagued with the small issues (like you mentioned all of them) and the big issues, costs more to repair and have typically no service tech manuals for people to purchase. They strategically try to make it as hard as possible for the DIY to fix....while our cars are simple....

Show me the reports showing that Alfa's are reliable now.

The consumer report I found....I suppose you think it is toilet paper because it does not support your opinion...for the same reason that it supported my point is why I used it...

Hell, when the Alfa Romeo boss states: our cars are reliable...it kinda supports my point that they are not.... see the article below...

Look if you like it buy it...your defending it like you own it already...so maybe you should.....Do you have 50k +? Then go for it.... Because with just a couple of options that is where you will be. I can think of a ton of better cars that have more than 280 hp that cost 50k. Hell I would rather the 4c at least it looks crazy sporty and not just like a BMW wanna be...

Lol.... you like taking snippets of shyt and gluing them together to state a point I didn't say the Ti had a relation to Ferrari. But the quadrifoglio does... from an engine standpoint. Like I said. One man's trash is another man's treasure.

The lower end cars have not been formally reviewed yet so I'm not going to pass judgement on them in terms of performance. But I do know this.... with only 280HP, the Ti is about as fast as its competitors.... so it's doing more with less. And like I said, this car OUTHANDLES all its competitors. As an enthusiAst and not crying bitchin moanin pansy.... I'd drive the Alfa at least till warranty.

BMW lost its way 12 years ago. Benz is more muscle than saloon. Audi is muted with all wheel drive... infiniti.... lol. Yeah right? There's 3 saloons that matter.... the jaguar, the Cadillac and the Alfa. Anything else is performance trash. That's my point.

Maybe the Alfa will be shyt? Maybe it won't? We won't know the truth till the end of the 2nd model year but... it's at least worth it's weight during warranty.

Did you even look through the top 11 because Audi was not there...anyhow JD powers changes every couple years ...they had european cars at the bottom not long ago:

Hell you guys win....I don't really care enough to keep debating this...If you like it buy it....sell your Z (the greatest car ever built) and live long and prosper...in 3 years come back and tell us if you had any problems or not..

In my case I used to love euro cars until I learned to hate them...I have owned enough euro cars, knew enough people who ended up hating them , and read enough things about euro cars ....to where I hate them. If you turn your own wrench, do your own maintenance and repairs like a true "car enthusiast" and not some pansy who lets the stealership do everything for you...I bet you will hate Euro cars too....

And all the models of AMERICAN cars that made them.look reliable were designed in GERMANY by OPEL.

And Audi did make it.... along with Porsche. Look again.

Look if you like it buy it...your defending it like you own it already...so maybe you should.....Do you have 50k +? Then go for it.... Because with just a couple of options that is where you will be. I can think of a ton of better cars that have more than 280 hp that cost 50k. Hell I would rather the 4c at least it looks crazy sporty and not just like a BMW wanna be...

I like Alfa, and I want them to succeed.
I'm not married to them or the Giulia (though I do have a 4C - and the service manual for it, so far un-opened).

I just think that Giulia is a very nice car, that shouldn't be saddled with the baggage of the past (much of which is made up - the kind of thing that Clarkson & Company like to play up for entertainment value, the same as Harris says Lambos are supercars for people who cannot drive - it sells). There are enough 25 year old Spiders and GTV's still running in the USA and Canada to make me think that the cars are not 100% garbage. For every reported horror story, I can introduce you to a real Alfa owner who has never done more than routine service. But the latter isn't nearly as entertaining to report on. One can say the same about any make, and almost every model.

Alfa's brand was in need of a re-boot in 2015. Not so much because of an imagined reliability issue, but rather the fact they produced many years worth of uninspiring machines - hard to spark the passion of Alfisti with something like the MiTo. When you read the real history of the marque, it's the kind of stuff that gives you goosebumps. The Giulia and Stelvio are meant to bring some of that back. Alfa has always been about affordable performance, and I hope that this comes to fruition. Of course, that has to be balanced against profitability - the company no longer has the national purse to back-stop it. It will have to find the sweet spot, but if it does, there is room in the marketplace.

The Giulia is not just a horsepower number and a price. It's a complete package, and a darn nice one. Yes, there are lots of other, equally good cars our there. That's great. Not sure which one I'd rather have, but that's personal preference. Your mileage can vary - it's all good.
