Gets no respect!!!
The GT-R also recently prevailed at a round of the Pirelli World Challenge, where the field includes GT3-specification examples of the Audi R8, Bentley Continental, Cadillac ATS-V, Ferrari 458 Italia, Lamborghini Gallardo, McLaren 650S, Mercedes-Benz AMG SLS, Porsche 911, and SRT Viper. And yet the GT-R gets no respect.

Gtr is a poor mans ride, its a Nissan.
Wtf is nissan? |
Nissan almost hardly ever gets respect for the faster and sportier of their cars. Its because they really only have 3 models, the 350z, the 370z, and the gt-r. Now those have their different body styles and classifications, but Nissan hardly ever is credited on the type of sports car they produce.
Think of Nissan, you think of the sentra, Altima, maxima, rouge, etc. The cheaper daily drives you see around. These cars cost anywhere from $12,000-$20,000 maybe a bit more if you choose to load it. But these are the daily drivers of Nissan. Everyone thinks of those when they hear Nissan, not the Z or the GTR. Like the article says and I will paraphrase "you have to be defiant to buy a GT-R and at that point will be probably the only one in the neighborhood". They are not commonly seen around. To even test drive the GT-R you have to have a down payment ready for the car that is at least $35,000. At least that was the guidelines of the dealership I was at. Although they are very under-respected, the car is a true beast and can hang in the divisions of those other cars previously mentioned for 2/3's the price. |
Ya,it's too bad it looks the way it does. It's not a horrible looking car,but it's not all that eye catching. Everything else about it I like.

Rodney is the first thing I thought of...
My psychiatrist told me I was crazy and I said I want a second opinion. He said okay, you're ugly too. I found there was only one way to look thin: hang out with fat people. I loved him and Don Rickles...no BS straight to the point |

Huh? I think the GT-R gets tons of respect... hell, there are plenty of ricer fan-boys who for some reason (wrongly) think it's the world's best performing supercar in every category.
What it IS is hands-down the best performing platform for the PRICE. Or was, before Chevrolet decided to make the Corvette into an actual sports car. I respect the hell out of its performance numbers. What I don't respect is that it's a $100+k car that looks like a $25k car and it has absolutely zero driver engagement (according to reviews anyway). IMO it's dangerously close to being the only thing a high dollar performance car can't be forgiven for: being boring. |
To non-car people it looks like a 4 seater sporty sedan made by Nissan. It's not a ferrari.
|
I wouldn't say it gets no respect. I'm starting to see them all over the place now that Nissan is leasing them...
|
GT-R's look pretty menacing to me... Just in a muscle car kind of way... I haven't heard of many reviews that say the car isn't engaging. Most reviewers say, that people who say that have, Either never driven the car. Or, are seriously amazingly bias to their own brands. Any independent open minded reviewer usually gives serious high praise to the GT-R. The Gt-R looks like a $70,000 vehicle. And its Nismo version looks like $100k car. But both perform like $180k and $200k. Nissan either needs to lower GT-R pricing or make the R36 dramatically nicer from the exterior for that type of money..
Regardless, The GT-R deserves its title as Godzilla and it's praise for its performace. Big respect to the GT-R. :driving: |

come to think of it, the gtr can keep up, if not beat, some of the cars listed. so in retrospect, think of the looks on their faces if they got beat by a nissan. |

Car gets total respect here - trust me. In this land of speed and cars, rolling in a GTR is a good thing. I have a mate here with a 13 in black, tuned and he gets a shite ton of fun and attention. Most spend more and get less compared to GTR. Since when is 100k$ poor. Funk that garbage.
|
I have absolutely no clue what you are talking about.
Every single day, I see supercars on the streets. Yes Dubai DUH. But there are a few cars here that not just are respected by everyone here but pretty much breaking necks everywhere they go. GTR always gets heads turning. Once there was an r34 parked next to a Ferrari. (I dont know which ferrari it was because no one was really looking at it.Nor did anyone care. Its true the GTR does not look much next to ferraris and such, But the GTR has an image set in stone in most peoples mind. Its Godzilla. Its the 100k car that has put its much much more expensive competitors to shame. If that is not respect, I dont know what is. On a side note, In Dubai, Toyota Land cruisers and Nissan Patrols are more respected (And Feared for that matter) than ferraris LOL. |
the general public may sleep on the gtr, but it is one of the most respected cars to the car community.

I would say the 370z gets a lot less respect , most people see it as a poor mans g37, Porsche guys would never buy a Nissan. 370z might be the most niche sports car In a long time . Anyone been to the Texas drag races knows gtr gets plenty of respect there .
