What's the coolest car tech you've seen?
What innovation from a manufacturer made you just say "wow, that's ingenious!" Or it's just super innovative, never been done before or this application is perfect for it.
To me, the new Ford GT takes all my wows... -The exhaust in the middle looks like jet fighter after burners and can basically be called that. -The taillights and the hole in the middle is actually an outlet for hot air from the intercoolers and wastegates. -The rear spoiler is functional, going up and down for more downforce and assist with braking. -The wings going from the wheel fenders to the roof are actually the air intakes for the engine and also function to divert more air to the rear spoiler. http://2016releasecars.com/wp-conten...T-rear-end.jpg What have you seen that made you go "wow"? -RyanG |

Although the Z doesn't have quite the power to match the look :icon17: And Ford pulls them off beautifully in the center :yum: Quote:

When Nissan came out with the Quad cab Frontier. They were the first.

Whatever model/brand that came out with a ac unit is my favorite tech. AC is the best invention ever.
Whoever invented the air conditioning should be given a Nobel prize. Thanks Mr. Carrier |

The new Koenigsegg has NO transmission. Yes, you read that right.

Insane Mode on the new Tesla P85D. First one with the actual word "Insane" on the dash for launch control/Drive mode.

I would probably drive with the around-view on all the time, especially on the Z, with it's ginormous mirrors and blind spots. |

Quad turbo W16 engine! I shat myself in shop class when my teacher in high school had a lecture on it. This is when Bugatti Vernon first came out.

I remember in the 90's when I was a valet, I jumped in a big body two door Benz and put the car in reverse. I looked out the back window and the rear headrests flipped down and these tiny 4" antennas popped up out of the edge of the rear fenders to use as a marker for backing up, despite there being a whole bumper sticking out past them. I thought to myself "welp, they've thought of everything now". Ha!

Tesla's new GPS positioning Suspension (Forgot the tech name) - It basically automatically raises the car when it detects bad uneven terrain and lowers it when it is a perfectly smooth road).

I need to be in cold temperatures most of the time. I'm hyper, always angry and I have thyroid issues which makes my "internal thermostat" to be malfunctioning all the time. I am known for being outside when temperatures are in the low ten's and I'm dressed as if the temps were in the 80's |
EFI, think of the drivability we have.

The chauffeur.
I just wish I could afford one. I hate driving daily. |
The exhaust from the Zonda...
In both sound and craftsmanship. http://www.carzi.com/wp-content/uplo...onda-r-111.jpg |

just read an article on a new adaptive cruise control that Porsche is developing. It can pull up to .7 g's in corners to take the quickest and most fuel efficient line on winding roads with cruise control engaged.
That's pretty cool. http://blog.caranddriver.com/porsche...-up-to-0-70-g/ |

What is the point driving a sports vehicle in the twistys with cruise control or letting the vehicle do the driving for you.? NONE. I'm with you on that one. If I drive a sports vehicle and there are curves ahead, that's where the fun begins. That is the moment when I'm fully connected with the vehicle and enjoying it for it was designed. |
its still cool tech. I wouldn't use it either, but its cool. Just read another article that Audi has a self driving R8 that can navigate a racetrack. also, the author rode with Kimi in a Ferrari and they were saying that it will soon be possible to save the pro's laps and then have the car reproduce them for you.
Tadge Juechter was saying in the article that it would also be possible for the HUD in the vette to possibly show you the driving line on the racetrack, like a playstation, and then also give inputs to help you achieve that line. It could range from subtle to full on autopilot, depending on what you select. The only thing I am looking forward to self driving cars though is for the drive to work in traffic. |

I have a free bus and light rail pass through the County here in Phx and I can't use either of them, because the buses don't run during my hours (I could get to work, but then would have to wait 1.5 hours for the first bus to go home (I get out at 3:00p). And light rail doesn't go beyond 19th ave (I live in the West Valley). So ******* stupid... err, wrong thread. :icon17: |
