2016 Porsche Cayman GT4

To be released fall of this year.. thoughts as I'm clueless on the topic of Porsche anything. Was looking to get into a new M3 sedan and totally ditch the 2-seater but the new Motor Trend mag peaked my interest with the GT4.

As a former Cayman owner GET it! They're amazing! Nothing handles like a mid engine porsche!

GT4-Girl??? Not bad, not bad at all:)

Sign me up for a 2015 Porsche Cayman GT4 any day of the week. I could
then go out and spank many. The only thing to go would be the exhaust
system. Would add a FI dual exhaust system with surround sound. End of story.

Thanks for the info but why only 385hp? M3, m4, c63 etc for much less money with 400 plus hp.

Davey 04-27-2015 05:45 AM

If it's anything like the past cars, it will be light, and 385 HP will be plenty to have fun with.

The most recent M3 was like 3700 lbs IIRC (and I'm someone will correct me if I don't) and the Cayman is well under 3000 lbs.

Light cars are better. You can always add more HP to a big boat of a car to get the job done, but the best is a light car with enough power.

Guess how much HP a diesel locomotive has? :icon17:

As Davey have said look at the power to weight ratio plus the balance of a mid engine is unbeatable.

The Cayman will never be the best $/hp if that is what people care about. If that is you, get a C7.

Or, drive a Cayman (several in fact) and you may just get the package of the car and quickly forget that more power is not necessarily better.

I suggest driving both the base and S models, as they may suit you fine at a huge discount over the hard to get GT4 (I doubt they will go for MSRP as a special model).

You also want to find roads that are not strait :)

the cayman GT4 is nice but the major fail with it is they left the PDK tranny on the shelf. one of the better DCT's on the market but they decided to not use it at all. not even an option. 6MT only.

good job Porsche.

also the other issue is the price. bases at 84K and by the time you add any little extra you're looking at 100K in the end.

in a heartbeat I would go buy a 2015 GT-R over a little baby 911 (w/o a PDK tranny) any day of the week. the car is overpriced and lacking in my opinion.

Z-Girl 12 04-27-2015 08:24 AM

I wouldn't track it...shameful I know. So the pdk I don't think I'd miss. Definitely want a bit of comfort as it would be a dd and occasional road trip car 5hrs max. FPenvy if the price nears 100k the GTR would be back on the table. The Cayman is just so cute though!!!

2015 GT-R's are going for 80K currently so you could mod a GT-R with the spare 20K you would have into a GT4.

I think it looks good but the price is outlandish for a cayman. in the end the money just isn't worth it in my mind.

Z-Girl 12 04-27-2015 08:42 AM

Never in my life seen a gtr for 80k. Slightly used sure but my dealer for premium is $92k and track $105k. :(
