It's not the leather I dislike. It's that gaping mouth at the bottom. With the speedo and tach looking like eyes, it makes the whole thing look like the face

I'm pretty much Nissan's target demographic for this car. I want a V6, somewhat sporty or at least sort of fun to drive, four-door car that I can use for long trips and other things where my 2nd car (the Z) don't work. Clearly I have some history/knowledge in terms of Nissan cars, a good dealer that I trust, etc.
And even with all those "ins" I would buy an Accord instead. |

This was funny.... lol The maxima is a family car for aggressive women with a lead foot. At least we know we are getting a flat bottom steering wheel in the Z35. The maxima is another car that gets Z parts bin aside from the juke.

A leather stitched dash in the next Z is a must.

Probably will be standard in the Z35 touring pkg?

I would think it'd be standard, but you never know. Oh and better "leather" than the thin paper stuff currently in our cars!

All i know is that CVT in the Maxima better have magical powers and unicorn blood for transmission fluid... Nissan should be upgrading it's 7at or giving us the old GT-R DCT for its sports cars in reality...

Nissan's CVT's are too unreliable across the board. To have SOOOOO many cars have trans go out at 40k miles should be a clear indication you have a bad product.

To be fair, I've owned two Maxima's, a 11' and a 14'. I've never had a problem with the CVT. CVT issues on 7th gen Maxima's are minimal. If you want to look at tranny issues, Ford, GM, Chrysler/Dodge (ZF 8 speed and 9 speed tranny's) over the past few years. The Max is one of the most reliable cars in Nissan's lineup, along with the Z, which may sound funny... But they are also the oldest. They've had plenty of time to fix most of the issues. Why the CSC issue still exists is beyond me.
Don't buy the Maxima if you're looking for what the Q50 already has. The Maxima has plenty of power, not very heavy, handles pretty damn well (you can get them with 19" Bridgestone RE50A's from the factory as a no cost option on the SV sport.), and has most meaningful bells and whistles. I'd recommend the Maxima all day. I challenge anyone to drive any midsize sedan back to back with the Maxima, it's the little things that make it better. Steering feel, turn in response, handling, material sound/ride quality (unless it's an SV sport, then it's sports car rough). I f'n love the current Max, even with it's CVT. Not gonna lie though, a good DCT or 7AT would be better, but because it doesn't have that doesn't make it a bad car. Not defending the looks of the new Maxima, it's not that good looking, but I can guarantee that if it's on the same chassis as the current one, it's almost guaranteed to drive really damn good.

Let me be clear, I LOVE the way some CVTs drive, loved my wifes altima SR before it bit the dust, our next car will likely be a Juke Nismo RS CVT, and the thought of the new WRX with a CVT excited the crap out of me. I think the CVT hate is just a bandwagon thing. The one thing I can attest to from personal experience and professional experience is the unreliablility of the maxima, murano and altima CVT's. Not saying they can't be good, but the problem is alive and kicking and people need to be aware of it.

Makes me wonder what the new Z will look like (OMG Jesus help us), the current Maxima and 370Z shared a lot of similar styling cues. A similar interior will probably go into the new Z, the current Max and Z have a a very similar dash and steering wheel etc.
