Hyundai is now on the right track (maybe wrong model)
 

Never been a fan of Hyundai but mid engine cars are awesome.

I think the genesis coupe was an excellent first attempt at a sports coupe and the Veloster is a copy of NO CAR. It's a hyundai original and very handsome. Paint is high quality and the seats are amazing. There are some cheap points in the interior but it tops out under $29000. and with incentives, the veloster can be had fully loaded right under 26k. Plus its easy to mod. An MR Veloster would probably be under 40k.

Hyundai has my respect.

The rear seats are probably gone in this case. But it can probably be a nice set off for people who don't want to spend 70 grand on a 4C.

No fan of Hyundai. Especially not a fan of hatch backs

Yea, but I doubt hyundai is dumb enough to put huge side air vent if the engine is not in the rear section.

It will drive like an overloaded hay wagon, because Hyundai.

Hyundai's aren't bad cars. However, it was Hyundai's transmission and engine that put me off -- neither are very smooth.

I wouldn't say the Z is much better in the regard.

i remember back in the late 80's some korean kid came up to me for no reason to tell me korea is going to bring a car that's going to completely take out the supra (new at the time).

and they came out with the tibron (sp?) like 10yrs later. :rofl2:

I don't think, IMHO, anyone here has spent a decent time behind the wheel of a 3.8 Coupe. I traded a '13z for one. I've alwYs stated the Z is a better performer, sports car, but for the $, as a DD, the 3.8 SPANKS the Z. It's not quite as quick, but oh so close. The tranny, engine, chassis are on par with the Z. Handling suffers a bit due to weight, Z is better. Engine...down low the Z has it. Not by much. Up top hands down the 3.8. Interior and and tech, no contest, 3.8. I'm a Z guy through and through but the '13+ iteration of the coupe are really competitive at the price point. I drove a 13 3.8 before I bought the 13 370. I didn't drive it CORRECTLY. Not at all. I blame poor salesmanship on that. He didn't educate me on engine temp (huge factor- below 250 it's a dog!), no insight into paddle shifters, nothing. Really drive one and Id bet you stop bashing on it and saying other than SLIGHTLY better handling and off the line gut, "I wish my Z did this". Not bashing the Z, hell I've had lots of them but for the money as a DD, spend two hours driving a 3.8.

I think the Genesis is a decent looking car but in no way would I say the driving dynamics are on par with the 370Z, and neither has anyone else besides you, that I am aware of.

I do agree that for cruising long distances on the highway and putting around town, the Genesis would be the better buy.

Cuz the power is so immense it smooshes you against the rear window and there is a wiper on the inside the car O_o

I like the genny. But i can't agree on the tranny comment.

So have I. I dont think the Z 6speed is any better than the 3.8. And the 8 speed auto like I have is better, IMO, than the auto Z. If I had deeper pockets Id have kept my 6 speed sport for track duty and still bought the 3.8 for my grueling, traffic sick, South Florida as a DD.

When I had the auto Z, I hated that you either had to shift when it wanted you to shift or face the BANG every time. F that, dumped it quick.

HUH??????? I have an auto Z. In paddle mode it acts as a manual. If you don't shift? It bounces off the redline like crazy till you upshift. And DRM auto blips the throttle for Heal, toe effect. The Z is one of the best slushboxes out there, and when it came out, it was the best.

The 8 speed has DRM?

I mean that it has, in a sense, a predetermined shift pattern, where 1st gear is short, 2nd gear is fine, third gear drags out to long into to high an RPM, and fourth gear and up are fine. What I meant was when I drove with the paddles, unless I shifted at these same points, it was a very harsh shift. It supposedly has adaptive shift such and such, but I never felt like that was the case. IDK what to say about it honestly:confused:, but it did feel quite a bit faster than the manual.

If you leave it in D, just stay using paddles all day.:driving: It takes about 500 miles for ASC to really understand your inputs

Mine must of been a bad apple, it did breakdown on me, the trans that is, at Homestead-Miami, so that's probably the case.

Could be. I notice the 7AT really began to show how good it is around 10,000 miles. I am really in love with the 7AT with DRM. It just needs stronger high gear clutches and an update to shift a lil faster in third and fourth gear. I like the slower clunky gear shifts in first and second. Reminds me of the 80's :tup:
