I like it.

Haboob 02-03-2015 02:20 PM

Rumored $37,000-40,000 though. Yikes.

Some people are saying the interior is not what a $40k car should have either.

JARblue 02-03-2015 02:24 PM

I saw it and read the specs. Sweet

But then I saw the price. That's more than I paid for the Z. I know it's a different car, but no thanks.

Haboob 02-03-2015 08:46 PM

Has the asking price been confirmed?

hurahn 02-03-2015 09:11 PM

Not yet, but all the secret squirrels are saying about 38k topped out.

I guess that's not really that bad, it may come down a bit, but it seems on par with the STI and Evo (at least when it was selling) prices.

You are probably correct. They figure if the STi can sell for that, then why not the RS? They are both AWD, turbo four cylinder, rally-based cars, and the last gen STi was a hatch also. With the EVO in its last and final year, that will be the STi's only competition in this niche market. Hell, the RS rims look exactly like the STi BBS wheels.

The Focus RS should not and will not sell for what an Sti sells for IMO. I'm not paying the same price for a Ford that I would for a Subaru. The Focus RS could blow the doors off an Sti and I still wouldn't pay the same money for it. There is a reason domestic manufactuers have basically permanent 0% financing for 96 month offers, etc. Becuase they have to.

Yes, Ford has come a LONG way over the last 5 years with their vehicles, but they still aren't at the same level as the Japanese auto makers. This is especially evident in the interiors, I'd be very surprised if the Focus RS interior was anything above just passable.

Haboob 02-04-2015 09:08 AM

I wouldn't pay that much for a Subaru either, which is why I don't own one. Their interior isn't anything to write home about either.

DCNISMO 02-04-2015 09:30 AM

A Golf R is about 36 to 38K....so its priced for the segment.

And what would you consider the Evo and Sti interior??

BC416 02-04-2015 10:43 AM

It's a very nice ride. I'm not a fan of hatches or wagons so I'd never buy one but you gotta love the performance of this thing. I'm sure it's very moddable as well.

Couldn't care less about interiors. *shrug*

edconline 02-04-2015 10:51 AM

Evo and Sti interior materials quality is just passable, probably no better than the focus. But the design and layout of the Japanese interiors blows domestic ones away, even when material quality is the same. I find 99% of even fully loaded domestic interiors extremely plain and boring looking.

I will flat out admit bias though, I detest domestic manufacturers and would never drive a domestic vehicle.

Sent from my iPhone 6+ using Tapatalk, likely while driving.

Domestic interiors are getting a little better. The Challenger Hellcat is acceptable.

The Focus ST's is okay (and likely very similar if not the same to the RS's), once you learn all of the buttons and such, lol.

BigT 02-05-2015 01:32 PM

If its priced around 34k, i'm going to buy one. Need a 4 season car. If its priced higher, i'll pass.

bullitt5897 02-05-2015 02:49 PM

For those who bash the interior I will say this. I have owned 2 STI's and 1 ST. The ST had a much much much better interior quality! It did not rattle and both my STI's did... not to mention the ST was more driver focused than the STI's...

STI's are 10+ years behind on their interiors!

The ST does use liberal amount of plastics but so do alot of cars...

It looks as though ford is making slight improvements to the 2015 interior.

As far as pricing I believe they will come in around the $34 - $36k mark. Ford is going through a market placement of relative performance at a better cost structure. I wouldn't pick one up new... You will lose $10k driving it off the lot! I did on my 2014 ST...

bullitt5897 02-05-2015 02:50 PM

Also, dont get me started on comparing the seats and the sound systems...

UNKNOWN_370 02-07-2015 05:28 PM

This is my take on why a domestic should almost always be cheaper than a comparable import...
The Domestic is often built here. As the case for the Cadillac ATS. It's built here yet it's pricing competes directly to BMW 3 series... Why if the 3 series is imported and is subject to import taxes and transport fees that fall between $7k and 10k depending on model.

If an American company chooses to build out of our country? Not our fault they're depriving us of jobs. They chose to leave our country. The U.S. should subsidize import tax for American car companies to reduce costs to the consumer?

If I'm gonna get ripped off like that? I won't buy the American car. I'd buy the foreign competitor.

Now if the American car outclasses the competition from every single angle, is the same price as the competition and is deemed more reliable. I wouldn't mind buying domestic over import. But 90% of the time. This is not the case.

I agree, but in a total free market economy……that does not work. Either you want a free economy or not. WE had to do something like that to save Harley Davidson from itself in the 1970's when their stuff was even more junk than it is now when owned by AMF, yes the bowling company. We levied tariffs on all bikes above 700CC, which hit Japan of course. So thats why we for the 650 KnightHawk and other cool bikes.
