The transmission fluid was changed over to Amsoil brand at 20k miles and the shifting is butter smooth. Additionally, all boost lines have been sealed to prevent any potential boost leaks. The only two notable faults with the vehicle is the driver side "a" pillar, which I will replace. I had a triple gauge pillar on it with an EGT and oil gauge and drilled an additional hole to run the lines without cramping them all into one hole. The second fault is there is a small dent on the driver's side fender that can easily be pulled out. |

This car is fast and fun, guys. It would be perfect for someone that is wanting to buy a car that is turbocharged from the factory!
|
Accepting any reasonable offers, folks.
|
these things can be wicked fast.. have you tried craigs list? im sure it would go quick on there...

I have more that I can e-mail anyone (mainly interior / wheel pics). |
There are lots of people looking, but nobody is pm'ing. LoL!

I used to have a lot of friends that raced these. They sold them right away only because of the shift knob coming off all the time, but aside from that, they were kicking @ss on the streets. My friend had one boosting higher (not sure how much) but on the drag strip he was only half a second behind my Trans Am, and on the freeway we were pretty much neck and neck until about 120-125 where I finally started to pull him.
Cool cars, though. |
:bump: I always thought these were kind of cool cars, and was very surprised they took them off the market. What did you edit out of your windshield by the way? Hopefully youre advertising this on all the neon boards as well.
|
Thanks for the bump, Crash! I've had some fun with this car, and I am sure the next owner will have a lot of fun if they decide to go big turbo.
Anyway, what kind of work did you do on your Trans Am? I'm sure it was a beast! Quote:

The Trans Am at the time was MOSTLY stock. The motor was a freak and I had really good tire. I can't recall if I'd done my gear swap yet, but I don't think I did. Those SRTs pull for a long time. I was certainly impressed with them. And the comfy Viper seats are a big plus!
|
^ +1 for the Viper seats. The downside about the stock turbo SRT's is that they die up top. :ughdance: That Trans Am really opens up where the SRT falls short, so I can easily see why you walked your friend. :) Anyway, there is nothing like American muscle. Talking about it kind of makes me want to get another 03-04 Cobra. God I miss that car so much.
|
^^^ Yep! I was shocked that the SRT didn't do well up top. My friend said 4th gear was like a kick to the nuts... The car would fall flat on its face when he got to 4th.
Yeah, LS1s LOVE top-end. 3500+RPM and the LS1 kicks butt all over the place. More torque/hp, and it just pulled and pulled. |
Tiny turbo FTW! LOL
|
^^^ LOL!
I've heard of T3-4 upgrades that makes them crazy on the freeway. They still take too long to spool though. I would have LOVED to have seen a twin scroll t4 on an SRT! |
A big turbo is a lot of fun, but in order to make any use of the higher AR turbos, the SRT would need some head work, new cams, valves, springs, retainers, and a PCM reflash to increase the rev limit to 7500RPM. A dbb turbo would be nice as well, but not necessary with the work listed. Oh.. And I almost forgot that the timing chain would have to be removed for any application above 400hp.
All that said, that 2900lb car would be nearly unstoppable in the straights against your typical run of the mill tuner/v8 modder. Now if I can only sell this baby Viper of mine... :excited: |
:) Good luck.

I have the most views, but no bites. Lots of window shoppers?
To put this car into perspective, it is a 2900lb, 300+hp to the wheels car. If you guys want something really fast and is easily upgradeable and reliable, this car is for you. Keep in mind that this car is turbocharged from the factory so you will not have to worry about as many small issues as "aftermarket" turbocharged cars. Since this car has most of the supporting mods for a bigger, badder turbo, your investment to make this car an EASY mid to low 11 second car is not very high at all. The reason why I haven't gone this route is because I am wanting a track car (the 370Z). Lots of friends of mine that own SRT4's that have upgraded turbos (.50 trim and up) absolutely love them. They are also a blast to drive and if speed is what you want, an SRT with a 50 trim is unbelieveable. Honestly, one of their cars reminded me of my supercharged Cobra, so that's saying A LOT. Has this car been well maintained mechanically? Yes it has. I have changed the oil and kept up with maintenance religiously for the entire time that I have owned it. What kind of oil have I used? I have used ONLY Mobil 1 Synthetic. Nothing else. What about the transmission? I replaced the tranny fluid with Amsoil brand at about 20k miles and it has shifted butter smooth since. It will be about time for another change at 50k miles, but the cost is minimal if you have the right tools (basic sockets and wrenches). Also, the starter was just replaced at 39k miles, and the sunroof motor was replaced at 36k miles. Everything runs like new and there are no other errors to report. What about the interior? The interior is nice and well kept. If someone decides to buy my car, I plan on performing a full detail on it so it would be like you're sitting in a brand new car. Most importantly, there are no cracks in the leather and no cuts in the fabric of the seats. Oh, and nobody has EVER smoked in the car. I don't smoke and anyone that does waits until I pull over to let them, or until we get to where we are going. With all that said, you are getting a great car. Also note that this car's price is OBO. I understand that this car KBB's for around $13K private party, but also keep in mind that you save a lot upfront (out of pocket) expenses for mods. Keep in mind that if you still think that $15 is high, talk to me. This is going for BEST OFFER so you can shoot me a legitimate offer and I will give you an honest response. I fully understand that mods don't always add to the value of a car, so I am happy to work with you. Anyway, thank you for reading this and I look forward to working with you. |
Bump!!!
|
bah. if i only had the money
|
