^^ mine goes to 200-210 on the street everytime i open my cut-out and run it for at least 10-20min, so i should get me an oil cooler too lolz

AndyZ 05-23-2010 02:18 PM

For me i think 160 is best temp

~180 is ideal operating temperature. Most thermostatic plates and oil thermostats open up around this temperature. ~240 is considered maximum "safe" temperature. Any higher than that and I would consider investing in an oil cooler. I think 260 is when limp mode kicks in on our cars.

I wouldn't recommend driving hard if your car isn't near the ~180 range. Even with a small oil cooler and a thermostatic plate, it will be difficult to fully get up to operating temperature on cold days/nights.

Mine should be fine then, dont need oil coolers for now...lolz

I agree...180 is the ideal temperature. The mocal one opens up at 180 (some say you can custom it to open at 200). And even when the thermostat closes it doesn't closes 100%, some oil still goes to the oil cooler which leaves the car not reaching the ideal 180 temp, which isn't good either. But I didn't think in California would get so cold. Anyways, more info's on the oil temp thread.

Anyone here interested to go Tracking this June 26 at Infineon? It's a NASA event.
