i had my 350z for 5.5 years with no front plate or harness, and was never hassled. car had 104k miles before i was rear ended (totaling the car).

my 370z now has ~3500 miles, also no front plate, and haven't been hassled, either, but 3500 miles isn't saying much.

I'm still running my paper plates and I'm planning on running them until I get my veteran plates in the mail.

I might run something similar to the stillen one that mounts to the tow hook bracket so that I can take it off when I want. The stillen bracket isn't offset enough for me. I don't have the bracket holes drilled either.

I am also running with the sticker paper license right now. I've never had front license plate installed in my previous car for 6 years and never had an issue. I did have trouble with my Lexus and that was 2 yrs ago (at the time it was brand new), but that was because I was in SF. A motorcycle cop literally pulled me over in the middle of traffic at night just to give me a fix-it ticket. He saw me drive pass him without a front license plate, and he saw the one in the back. So yea....he gave me a ticket. But hey, that didn't change the fact I didn't like drilling 2 holes in the front bumper. I just double side sticky taped the license plate and had a cop signed it off at the station and removed it again. I'm definitely gonna leave the front off again. I think carrying it is nice but it doesn't really stop the cop from giving a ticket if he really wants to have a power trip. Just because I've had no problem for the longest time, cops are now looking for more reason to give out tickets / to make money / just to be a d*ck because you drive a sports car. All I can say is be careful, it all depends if you're in the right place in the right time.

Just personal experience though, if u goto SF I highly recommend to put your front license plate, tape it on whatever as a temporary solution...cuz it's not worth the trouble. But so far in the east/south bay, i haven't had much trouble. Same goes for tinted windows...it's all luck - we all know we're not suppose to tint it over a limit, but we still do it because it's nicer.

yea, they raised the price...also, another thing to keep in mind is if they feel like charging you more for an repeating offense, I've heard they can increase the price for same violation time if you repeat it enough. I haven't personally had that happen to me before, but I heard of a friend that had that happen with window tinting. He got caught for tinting his front windows too dark, he paid to had it remove and got caught again (dunno if it's the same cop), but by the third time, they basically jacked up the price for the fix it ticket by multiples of the price. I personally don't know if that's true whether they can do that or not, but I just to throw it out there for others that might care.
