Blackout Headlights

Hi guys, has anyone blacked out their headlights? If there is someone local that can do it I would pay for your services.

Update: Blacked out headlights posted on Page 2.

Are you talking about the blackout housing? I did mine recently...:-)

Yes, the blackout housing. Did you do it yourself? I'm so jealous! Any pics of them beauties?

Seen photos of blackouts. Looking for someone that can actually do them for me. Will pay of course.

Yeah, I did it myself following the DIY. I tried the heat gun method, but ended up doing the oven method to open the headlight and all. Where you located? If you need any pointers, let me know, I can help you through it... It is more fun doing the mod yourself because you will feel more "accomplished"... Let me know.

i did my too, as well as the angel eyes, its fun to do. can help you out if you need but i really dont wanna do another set myself haha

Thanks for the responses guys. The other problem is that I live in an apartment with other roomates and they are gonna scream when i start baking the headlight.haha

Anyone willing to let me use their oven/tools? Willing to do the work with some help. Can barter with booze, ammo, "special" treats and/or some good ole cash.

I'm in... not looking to take these apart myself

Neoatw 07-29-2012 01:21 AM

It wasn't bad bro... the whole project took me 3 days, but because I have 2 kids, and can only work about an hour a day on the car... overall, 10 mins in the oven, paint, 10 mins in the oven again to re seal the lights. The longest time is to wait for the damn paint to dry.

weiboy718 07-29-2012 09:38 AM

I personally would wait at least 24hrs for the paint to completely dry up before resealing the headlights due to fumes on the paint still trying to cure. Can't rush on jobs like these and all it takes is one tiny screw up to mess everything up like down time, paint bubbling, fumes attacking the inside lens etc.

Yeah... That is why it took 3 days for me. Waited overnight for the paint to dry....

Yeah, that makes sense to wait for the paint to dry. So Weiboy, can you still do it within a weekend? The car is my DD. Like start on Saturday morning, let paint cure until Sunday morning/afternoon. Doable?
