Looking for dealer equipped to do OEM Nismo exhaust install
Acquired the pipes, but short the small parts: gaskets, nuts, perhaps can use new rubber mounts.
So I'm wondering if there's any dealer in the Bay Area that would have such stuff on hand and is willing to do an install just to make it a one-and-done job. |
seriously? you're not sure if the closest dealer to you will be able to install OEM exhaust...

They should at least be able to get the parts you're looking for. But that's absolutely ridiculous that they won't work on OEM equipment purchased by someone else. Fuckin dealers :shakes head:
Insurance companies do this all the time. Just this part Oct my warranty company bought and shipped an OEM steering rack to my dealer for install. The dealer priced the part at an outrageous $900, and the warranty company said they could get it for half that. I made sure the dealer confirmed it was a legit new OEM part and it was. Your best bet for install might be to find a local forum member and buy them some beer and pizza or something. Or go to a competent shop. |
Never heard of a dealer not wanting to install OEM parts. Are the parts new? Sometimes they'll refuse to touch used components because they don't want to be blamed for component failures. But new should not be a problem.

It's a take off. May end up with the bottom line option of sourcing the small parts and then doing the install elsewhere. Would've done it myself (I'm well aware of how pie this is) if it weren't for the living situation. |

This one didn't have all of the gaskets included (basically, seems like the carrier did some crap inspection). The gasket and hardware count differs between Nismo and Non-Nismo. And while I have a couple non-Nismo gaskets on hand separately, they have a slightly smaller bore. As small of a difference that can possibly be, it's also a small difference in cost just to get this to "proper" spec Talked to the right guy at the parts section of a local dealership. I know I can source the OEM parts one way or another. Only issue is their service department is like impossible to coordinate with. Meh, guess I'll just get the parts there, but then get the labor done elsewhere if nothing pans out before holiday. |
Beside's the Beautiful weather; it would suck to have a hotrod on the left-coast.

Update: Nissan SF was able to do it. I avoided it initially, mainly because driving in town is well...San Francisco. Lucky me got all green lights when going there.
Coordination was a pretty tricky. A lot of back and forth over the span of maybe a week — I guess because of holiday season; but all good service. They're not stingy. Heard they're also willing to do Stillen installs, not that I'm exploring it (though I can't be 100% sure if they'd do a G3). Price was fair after small parts order and labor. |
