Matt, I really like how well organized you are for your installs. It shows attention to detail which any customer wants to see. Your installs prove you know your sh*T, but IMHO you really gotta work on your builds. Nothing like a CLEAN install/build to compliment the brains it takes to properly install and "calibrate" a system ya know. Aesthetically, it leaves a little to be desired. SQ is where I'm sure you make that up though.

I believe the Kenwood DNX 5140 HU is rated 50 watts peak, but I do not know it RMS rating. Does this HU have adequate power to run a set of Polk MM6501 speakers? If not, will a Alpine KTP -445 amp rated at 45 RMS plug directly into the back of a Kenwood DNX 5140 HU?

The kenwood usually does 22 watts RMS and is not recommended to run polk mm directly. The alpine ktp445 pack you speak of will NOT plug directly into the kenwood and will require time to wire it into both harnesses for it to work.

Any ideas on what I can do to limit the gap around the HU? It's a Kenwood DPX791BH

It came with two trim pieces, one for Toyota and the standard both to big. It's mounted using the stock bracket and dash pieces.

Use the Schoche dash kit there will be no gap

I would go with a nice alpine or kenwood receiver, the kenwoods have better GPS and blue tooth, but to me the alpines have a better audio signal and better interface for the ipod, and the same rear camera that AK used in his install that I did. Feel free to hit me up on aim at reimermatt or the same for yahoo.
