No, the SCCA is national... here's the link to the local area group: Susquehanna Region SCCA

Thinking about going once it gets warmer. They do Auto-X's out the wazoo. :icon17:

I know, they have different regional chapters everywhere, I was just linking the one for this area to give him an idea of what they are/do. The Pittsburg area SCCA link is: Steel Cities Region of the SCCA

hey everyone!

quick update for everyone.

just saw today that the dates for this coming season of flashlight drags has been posted online at Flashlight Drags - Street Racing Without The Jail Time!

May 5th - Sunday - Waynesburg PA
June 2nd - Sunday - Waynesburg PA
July 7th - Sunday - Waynesburg PA
August 4th - Sunday - Waynesburg PA
September 14th - Saturday - Waynesburg PA

gates open at 11:30 for racers and about 12 for spectators.
drivers meeting is usually right around 1pm.
racing starts at 2pm

these events are always fun. from 2pm-430pm you can get alot of runs in even when there is a large group of cars there. along with fun runs there is a singles lane if you dont have someone to run.

also there is a "pink slips" race. they break you down into certain categories (big dogs, street, tuner, and trucks). they hand out 8 "pink slips" and if you dont get one you can challenge someone for theirs and if you have one you cant say no to a challenge. at 4:30 the 8 people holding slips for their class race each other until 1 remains. thats what i usually with a couple fun runs since people rarely see a 370 and want to race me.

depending on vacation plans later in the summer i should be at every one of these events.

mrthomr 01-18-2013 10:11 AM

Great info. Ill make a couple of these for sure. I have no plans of running but would enjoy meeting you all and cruizing up in the Z.

yea if youre in mo town it's a short drive for you. i actually went to college in waynesburg thats how i initially found out about these lol

i will be running in every event. unless by chance one week falls on whenever i possibly take a vacation. since i'm using some of my vaca days from work for ZdayZ in may my other plans are limited.

Joepro 01-20-2013 11:05 AM

I would like to make a few, sounds like fun. Im gonna try and get some guys at work to come as well, its a mixed crowd, but good guys. I see they say no slicks, so I take it dot drag radials would be ok..dunno if you have any idea. Shane is rebuilding his neon and it now will be utterly useless on street tires...this thing is insane. I will have the clutch/flywheel in and hopefully tuned by then, considering some of the cars I was beating in the 1/4 last year with my 350 it should be fun, at least at PRP there are many people who cannot drive their cars...I like beating corvettes, mustangs and camaros!

Dot radials are fine but if you're running them they typically bump you up a class if you're running in "pink slip" races which I typically do. I'm there I paid so I figure might as well. It's a fun addition to just running.

Also the more the merrier bring whoever There are tons of different kinds if cars and even trucks. It's pretty cool watching some of the big diesel trucks running lol

Anyone have any local recommendations for powder coating? THere is a guy in my old hometown that did it, but I recently heard he went whacko with his pricing and its is astronomical...Got one suggest for a place in Delmont. My Southbend clutch and flywheel are sitting in my parents garage..

If you're up to the idea, Mike the Powdercoater is on the forum and is in GA, so you'd have to ship to him, but he does Great work with good prices. :ugh2:

Hello!

Hey all,

Just wanted to say hi after stumbling across this thread related to our Pittsburgh area. I have a 2010 370 Silver Roadster here in Cranberry Township and have been looking for clubs/groups to hang out with.

I'll keep tabs on this thread to see what yinz are up to when spring rolls around. Only a few more months! :rofl2:

I found a place in export to do the powder, its a dedicated shop to only powered coating, 75 a wheel. They will be done next week.

If you want to just check prices there's a place right by me called prism something or other and they are dedicated powder coating too. I remember I asked them how much for all 4 sport wheels to get dipped black and then matching blue pinstripe on the edges and it was like 550 total since the blue was special order and labor.

Joepro 02-09-2013 02:49 PM

got the wheels back and tubes, he did a great job, really pleased with his work. 340 for the 4 wheels and the intale tubes. check my journal for pics!

If anyone local needs a set of OE sport rotors I am swapping mine for r1 slotted rotors, they have 14k on them and I had them turned, none of them were warped, but having a brake lathe at work I decided it would be a good idea to clean them off. Accepting resonable offers, not looking to maximize profit here, other than that they are getting put in the scap pile.

Honesty 02-17-2013 06:38 PM

Joepro, is it your white 370 I see parked near Smail Honda on 30 when I head in to work every day?

Joepro 02-17-2013 06:44 PM

Up by the old Italian oven? That's our employee parking lot...I work at Honda. I had the car in the shop for a few weeks but its back in storage now, if I was recent then no, but hopefully this weather will break soon!

FPenvy 02-17-2013 10:18 PM

Yeah, by the Italian Oven! Small world. That's pretty cool. I used to see it just about every day on my way to work in Latrobe, but you're right, haven't seen it recently.

My parents bring their Pilot to the Honda dealership there. Great people working there imo.

yup and that means the only sunday flashlight drag race that it conflicts with is the first one in may but i've been here almost 3 years and i've never been called in on a outage weekend yet (cross fingers) :bowrofl:

FPenvy 02-23-2013 01:40 AM

I know it's a bit early but the first flashlight drags event is the first weekend in may. If like to get more Z's there instead of just me for once lol. I will def be there and if more of you come i have a nice 10x10 pop up tent and chairs so we all could make up some "pit" spots and hang out while we race. Even if you have no interest in running your car it's still a chance to hand out and see alot of nice cars run. Typically there are about 150-250 cars racing. Fewest ive seen there was 125 most was over 300. It's a great time.

Website is http://www.flashlightdrags.com has all dates, times, directions, etc.

I plan on it for sure! Like I said before working on a few guys at work to come down, Shane has ran into some issues with getting his car back together, got his block back from the machine shop and found a scratch between one of the water jackets, and he bough an upgraded trans input shaft but the company did not tell him it would not work in an 03 trans, his s an 03...I feel so bad for him, all he wants to do is get it back together.
