I really do not want to trade my Z guys but there are somethings in life that just doesn't work. And this is one for me. Maybe when I move out and get my own place. If I was a quitter I would've traded my Z a year ago. I will miss the Z a lot wish I made more money so I could get another car... :shakes head: Just sold my intakes to a member on the forums. I need to take off my cbe and hfc now. |

Not to shout out OP, but I think he's pretty set in his decision. I remember him posting about the pros and cons of getting an Evo way before his rims got stolen. Not trying to disrespect, everyone has their own wants and needs. If I didn't have a DD I'd probably consider an Evo or Sti as well.

Thanks for understanding me nick. No one cares about me lol

I don't blame the OP, especially with the winters we've been having in the NE.

Outside of the 4 seats, I'm not sure how the Evo X is a better daily. Worse mileage, arguably not as reliable, and will certainly tempt your wallet a lot more with mods than a 370. :/
I've considered trading my 370 for an STi or an Evo a few times, but I just can't do it. You lose too much and you don't really gain anything, in my eyes. Quote:
I seriously bought my car right before the bad winter we had at the end of 2009. Fuuuuu |
Have you check out insurance for the EVO. It might be more. Anyway good luck in what ever you choose.

STI/Evo/370z were very close together, the Camaro SS and 135i were way higher. |
Evos make you want to mod them and the dealer will laugh at you all the way to the bank if anything breaks , they are absurd with denying warranty work with even the most minor mods.
I have a friend who had an evo 9 mr... Purchased it from the same dealer he went to when his third gear was grinding badly, he didn't do a single mod to the car from the time he purchased it.. It had down pipe , exhaust, and an hks intake I believe. Just as he purchased it. I think it was also tuned but I'm not sure at that point, but regardless he didn't put one extra cent into it... He bought it used and was told it was still under the factory warranty. When he went in for the tranny they DENIED him because of the mods. He knows I'm pretty good with reasoning with people and arguing for what's right, the right way, without getting out of line so he called me right away. I went in and had a 45 minute conversation with the servive manager about his predicament and in the end the outcome was, they can try all they want to approve a tranny but mitshu would send a rep and if they saw any mods on the car, at all, they would deny it. As any power adders deamed the tranny out of warranty. It was noted on his cars VIN even before he went in for the trip. Him being infuriated put a 5 speed in it, tuned the car, and put it on the metro evo forum and sold right when it was finished. The car hauled serious *** but he just didn't want it. Right before he sold it I believe he had 370ish hp and a little more tq. But he traded it for a g37xS and likes the new G way better as a DD. To me evos are not the best DD. They are very whippy and the ride is rather harsh. I'm not sure how the evo x trannys are but the 8-9 were weak... The X does have a more refined ride and is a bit smoother but your going to want to mod and your warranty will go poof. Something to keep in mind. I would consider a g37 sedan if you want a more practical DD. |
Ultimately, that is what drove me away from the cars.
While I never really plan to do serious mods, I'm always going to want to do an exhaust -- and well, since it's a turbo car, a downpipe, and now you need a tune, and a CAI, and a new intercooler is neat... Yeah. I would just keep going and going. The other thing -- and this was a big one for me -- was that both the Evo X and the STi just didn't feel like 30k+ cars. I don't mean interior quality -- everyone knows that you aren't getting anything special there. I just mean how well things are screwed together. My buddies WRX feels cheap and disposable. That, and I trust Nissan a bit more than Mitsu/Subaru. I've never heard of someone getting their warranty denied on a 370 yet, but hot damn, you can't do **** to those cars without the dealership marking you as a risk. I have to say, though, if someone offered me a trade with an equal mileage hatch STI and I knew they were a responsible driver, I'd probably consider it. edit: I dunno man, do what makes you happy, but I can't see an Evo X MR being a smarter DD, especially from a financial point of view. :/ |
