Default Habberstad Nissan is a joke

Took my car to them today to replace a tire and my rear hatch springs. Surprise surprise, they will not do either!

Tire - "the shop we took the tire to said you were driving on a flat tire which caused the enormous bubbles, therefore they are not covered and it will cost you over $200"

Mind you as soon as I saw I had a flat tire (at 4,500 miles on the car) I pulled over and refilled it with air, drove a few more miles (< 5 miles) and the car started to shake violently as the bubbles appeared at which point I immediately pulled off the damaged tire.

Rear Hatch - "yes your hatch does not open when you press the trunk release, but it does not make the clicking sound that makes the TSB relevant, therefore we will not replace those rubber springs"

At this point I tell them this is precisely why I didnt bother buying my car at your dealer, you have terrible customer service. They responded with fine, dont bring the car here. And I wont.

Tires are seldom covered under warranty. Tire damage mostly occurs from potholes or running something over, standard warranty doesn't apply - although some dealers do sell tire/wheel protection packages as add ons.

The rear hatch should definitely be covered, it is a TSB and they have nothing to lose by servicing you under the TSB.

I went there to look at a 370Z...and I didn't like the BS I was getting from the manager. He told me he sold 31 GTRS in NY. Anybody who knows how Nissan distributes GTRs to dealers knows that's bull. The average GTR sale per dealer is like 5 right about now.

Yeah I hear you, Im not too familiar with the policy on tires. If it had just been a case of getting a flat I wouldnt be ticked, but the bubbles that developed are downright dangerous. Plus Im not happy that these tires supposedly cost over $200 a pop. Could anybody confirm that price for the standard tires that come on the Z?

The TSB does have a note in there that says something to the effect of "If a clicking sound is not present, the TSB does not apply". This is the excuse they used and really got me heated. The problem lies in the fact that my hatch wont open with one press of the release button, regardless of what sound this produces. They simply do nothing that resembles customer service.

I went on dealerrater.com and they have an AWFUL rating. The service manager I spoke to was even cited in somebody's nagative review. I mean what kind of manager tells you not to bring your car to them again, that they dont want your business?

Yes, the price on tires is correct for the base tire. The Sport model tires are over $300.

Driving on a flat tire for even a short distance can destroy the sidewall or the belt causing bubbles. Sometimes you don't notice instantly and that's when the damage occurs - it's happened to me (not in this car fortunately).

Got it, I appreciate the first hand experience information. It was in fact the side wall that got damaged.

They still should have had a look at your hatch. Obviously the TSB might not apply if the latch doesn't open (click). It just means there's something else causing the problem.

In addition, they could have shown you more respect - that certainly costs them nothing. However, that applies in reverse too.

Someone here was selling the thier stock Advan Sport's from the 18" wheels if you need a replacement tire.

I replaced the rears to a 275 series (same type) a few months back and it was around $240 per tire (Tire Rack).

Habberstad Nissan is by far the worst and very sleazy as well. I tried purchasing my first Pathfinder from them..They attempted a "Bate & Switch" but when I called them on it, they retracted and then I just told them to keep it!!

Stay Away.

Whiskey, as youre implying what really differentiates one dealer from another is the customer service. Bottom line is they are selling the exact same product, so in order to get your business, they should treat you with respect. And of course I agree, it goes both ways.

Cmike, thanks for the recommendation. Im gonna make some calls tomorrow and get that tire asap. Its a pain to not be able to fully enjoy the car on days like today since I have to be careful while on the spare.

First rule of customer service: Never let a customer leave unhappy.

It's not that hard.
