NJ Insurance and beyond!

I'm going to begin a thread that hopefully will used to provide answers to those who may have questions regarding their coverage, what if senerios, mod coverage and any other questions you may have.

First I will qualify myself as an Allstate agent in the business for 20+ years in NJ. Furthermore, my sons and I are enthusiasts who own an 06' Z, an 06' G and a 09' FX35.

We also insure many of you and will make ourselves available to answer your questions. My son Chase will come on from time to time to answer your questions.

CrownR426 02-28-2009 12:43 AM

Welcome Rick!

I've got a 350z at the moment, and have had an Allstate policy with Rick since last June. I have a few friends who have signed up with Rick also, all car enthusiasts and all saved a ton of money by switching to Allstate!

Theatrix 03-01-2009 01:11 PM

Thanks Ray for the feed back.

Regarding GAP coverage from the dealer.....its approx. $18.00 per six month for a vehicle 3 years old or newer on your Allstate policy.
The dealer will attempt to charge you $500 +

That last part I purposely ripped from Geico as a joke. :icon17:

But the truth is he cut my brother's premium by 1/3 and now has BETTER coverage (platinum package); he switched from Geico. And my friend with a 09 M3 signed up with Rick and his rates were cut by HALF, switching from Liberty Mutual iirc.

Totally believe it! I already had AllState when I switched to him and he was able to cut $200 right off even without writing the policy again! Once he did write the policy again, my payments were cut in HALF! I don't know what we could have done without Rick! :hello:

StreetChase 03-03-2009 02:45 PM

Hey everybody. I just thought I would take the time to introduce myself.
My name is Chase. I work for Rick here in the office. I am also his son.
If you have any questions feel free to post them in this thread or send me a PM. I check my inbox several times a day. If I can not answer your question I will run it by Rick and get back to you as soon as possible. Being that he writes all the policies he does not have the time to frequent the boards as much as I do.
We have helped guys out on just about every forum related to G35's, 350's, and FX's so now it's your turn. ;) You can look through the other forums and you will find all the feedback we have lol.

We are here M-F from 9-5 and Tuesdays and Thursdays we are here late until atleast 7, sometimes a little longer. If you would prefer to speak to Rick in person feel free to give us a call. Our number is (609) 877-1105.
Thank You for your time and we look forward to hearing from you.

That's pretty awesome. All state send me a check every 6 months I don't have an accident or violation. The check amount goes up every 6 months so, I really can't complain. All the other insurance companies I had before wouldn't give me anything in return :(.

Don't hold your breath. When my [older] brother turned 25, his rates didn't reduce by a huge amount. Same goes for me, although I had a speeding ticket on my record at the time. It might be different for others but that's just how it was for us. Maybe Rick knows something we don't?

Theatrix 03-15-2009 07:58 PM

First of all, a male isn't given adult rates until he is thirty or married. Females get the rate at twenty-five.

The rate changes for a young driver year by year so by the time you hit 25 or 30 it is not substantial.

But heres something that many don't know.

The example is real and is based on a 23 y/o. When a young man has one vehicle with full coverage then the vehicle is rated based on the age appropriate drive.
However, when that same young man has a DD with liability only and his "weekend" vehicle, then the primary vehicle is rated on his age and the "weekend" vehicle is rated at a full adult rate.

Wrote this Evo guy last week and with the EVo only, his rate was $1600, but with a second vehicle it dropped to $1200 for both because the Evo was rated at the full adult rate. It was actaully cheaper to cover two vehicles as opposed to one.

StreetChase 03-17-2009 12:08 PM

Bump it up!

Ahhh no wonder I just got quoted such a sick rate. I called NJM to "scope out" the possibility of keeping my Jeep and getting a 370. I told the rep to put the Jeep on just liability since it's pd off and 6yrs old now and list the 370 as a pleasure vehicle...My rate was just $500 more than I am paying right now for full coverage on the Jeep.

zcoupe09 04-04-2009 07:33 AM

just looking for a qoute if possible...you can contact me via PM or email - jreis4206@hotmail.com thanks again

An update on the current state of affairs with the Insurance Industry in NJ!

There is a further tightening that is now here for most Industry players in NJ. Several factors have caused companies across the board to file for increases (usually 6.9%) and this trend will continue until they are solvent again.
We are approx 5 years into a competitive enviroment where PIP has been reformed and now pays medical based on a schedule. Medical facilities have "cracked" the code and found a way around this. Companies are now running 150% or better PIP expenses.
In addition, we had a significant descision passed down by the NJ supreme court in 2005 that now blurrs the line as it relates to the Threshold option on your policy. These Persoanl Injury losses are now beginning to take their toll on the "BI" portion of your policy.
Bottom line, companies are again scrammbling to survive here! They will ALL take rate increases!
They will also utilize the tools at their disposal to eliminate business that does not fit into their "sweetspot".
This brings me to the point of my drolling on here. Companies are beginning to use "Questionaires" for underwriting purposes on renewal. This is really a tool which can be used to Non-renew you if you do not respond. Do not ignore these questionaires!! I say again, Do not ignore these questionaires!
This is not company specific, but rather an industry wide practice for the purpose of prunning its books.

In conclusion here, expect market turmoil, higher rates and more difficult underwriting for the next 12-24 months.

BTW, the sweetspot for companies is good credit, good driving record, full coverage, been with the same carrier for 3 or more years and perhaps a homeowner. If you meet most of this criteria, then you will get the best rates in the state! Good luck
