Your mods and location

Hey, I have been reading mixed reviews about combining a cat-back exhaust with HFC's. Some people report that they love the sound while others dislike the hiss upon decleration. I am not scheduled to get my FI CBE till mid-May, and was originally planning on ordering some HFC's about a week prior to that to install them together. I would love to hear some setups in person so that I can confidently commit to my mods.
That being said, not everybody reports their mods in their signature and it may be a good idea to get a list going in our region so that we can all be better informed buyers. What are your mods, and what is your general location? Those who wish to participate thanks, those you wont thats cool.

I have a Berk CBE with stock cats. Another guy in town has an FI CBE with stock cats. Both sound awesome. We're in Norwalk just across the Sound.

EDIT: G3 intakes in-transit!

kielbasa16 04-22-2010 05:35 PM

Very cool. I was very impressed with the sound of the berk system on YouTube videos I'm sure your car sounds mean. I don't venture out to connecticut too often, but maybe I'll hear you from across the sound haha

G35guy84 04-22-2010 07:24 PM

I live in Huntington, and I've got the F.I. catback with HFCs and Stillen intake. Let me know if you wanna come out to take a listen.

Justin1686 04-22-2010 08:22 PM

keilbasa, great start to a thread. i was thinking about asking around myself. I've listened to the BERK, F.I, and Stillen combinations enough to forget which is which. and i've been curious to see who has what in our area compared to the 'general' thread. I wanna commit to the F.I but need to hear it in person.

Thanks man, I think it has the potential to benefit each of us.

G35 - I live very close to Huntington, I could even meet up sometime Sunday if youre around, or any other weekend.

CrownR426 04-23-2010 01:25 PM

IMO...
The Fast Intentions CBE with the BERK HFC creates a beautiful sound!
I'd go with ARK CBE + BERK HFC though.

Justin1686 04-27-2010 11:27 AM

keilbasa, did u ever get to g35guy to listen to his exhaust.

and g35guy, if you wouldnt mine, i might be interested in coming out to listen to ur setup sometime?

kielbasa16 04-27-2010 11:50 AM

Not yet, the weather hasnt been too compliant. We might meet up either tomorrow or Thursday night (after 730) since I get home late from work and wont be around this weekend.

Sure. Let me know when you would like to come. I would be more than happy to let you take a listen.

craniac24 04-27-2010 07:01 PM

Dude...you need to do a launch + fly-by video. I'm pretty sure there aren't any out there with the Berk exhaust + stock cats. Would love to hear it under load!

Also...are your tips mis-aligned just a little? Or is that the angle messing with me...

g35guy, if i am not able to meet up when you and keilbas do, maybe sometime next week? (weather permitting)

Sounds very good, thanks for the vid.

I actually did end up meeting G35guy today, spur of the moment thing. +1 rep for an awesome car, exhaust, and being a stand-up guy. At this point I am really confident and excited to get my FI cat-back, and 99% sure I will pair it up with the ERZ cats.

I'd rather go with test pipes. In NY you'll pass inspection unless you have a check engine light, just make sure you go to a shop you are familiar with so that they don't do a visual inspect, which they probably wont since it requires lifting the car or climbing underneath. I have posted a vid on this forum of test pipes with the stock exhaust on a dyno, should be around somewhere.

Thanks, man. Glad I could help.

And, Justin, we could meet up anytime you want. Just let me know when you'd be available. :tiphat:

No sh*t? They loosened up in NY, nice!

NJ inspections as of July 1st will become more lax as well, no more mechancal inspections, and only emissons of cars older than 5 years old.

Oh rry?

kielbasa16 04-29-2010 01:23 PM

Im gonna stick with the HFCs. I dont want the sound to be over the top loud. This is the first time I have heard a definitive answer regarding NYS inspections. Any other time Ive asked people just advise to swap stock cats back on, which I have no interest in doing.

Zeto 05-15-2010 11:17 PM

I have an Ark exhuast with FI resonated TPs.

Daishi 05-17-2010 10:12 AM

Injen Intakes, FI Long Tube Headers, FI Catback Exhaust w/ 18" Resonators and CF Mufflers, Cobb Tuned.

370Zsteve 05-17-2010 10:28 AM

guys we really need to plan a meet. Anyone know of a good dyno day or something scheduled in the area (NYC)?

kielbasa16 05-17-2010 11:56 AM

Only shop I really know is the place I have trusted with my 3000GT. 3s Motorsports, now Pampena Motorsports, is basically THE place to take your 3000GT/Stealth in the NE. They actually just bought a dyno (dynojet I believe) and when I asked how much he said $80 for 3 pulls. Theyre in Ronkonkoma.

I've heard this too... but thought it was yet to be voted on. Has this officially been passed?

red6spd 05-20-2010 02:02 PM

Maybe Ill have my Z by the time you guys get a meet going... Keep us posted would like to meet and listen to some exhaust set-ups.

kielbasa16 06-02-2010 07:53 PM

My SS FI CBE with 18" resonators is "shipping this week" and I ordered ERZ HFCs on Wednesday (hopefully less than a week wait time).

I also finally installed the splash guards I got from my dealer for free because of a scratch on my hood they neglected to tell me about.
