I'm thinking along these lines too. Nissan is pitted against being competitive against the Supra, below the Q60, but also not too far from the upcoming GR86.

Best way to figure out pricing is to consider the Q60 line.
Subtract for: sunroof, backseats, AWD option, mandatory leather, mandatory 7AT, dual screen infotainment, Infiniti surcharge, etc. I'm going to guess, using the Q60 as a basis, subtract at least $5K-6K starting with "entry" models. I'm predicting the VR30 will come in 3 tunes: -about 300HP "base" -about 400HP "upgrade" -possibly 450 Nismo? Hope so. I also predict that the AT will NOT be the 7AT, but will instead utilize the new 9AT. The Z won't be called "400Z", that's not ever how Datsun and Nissan named these cars, and HP will be all over the place from base to Nismo. I hope I can get a 400HP 6MT with cloth interior for $36-37K and I'd be very happy. |

-Launch Edition: $47k - 400HP 3.0V6TT, limited production, comes in the yellow Z Proto color or 1-2 other base colors, Leather interior with the yellow contrast stitching, heated seats, Brembo brakes, new 20" Sport wheels in Bronze color, Sport exhaust, and carbon fiber exterior parts
-Sport: $40k - 400HP 3.0V6TT, Leather interior but no interior contrast stitching, heated seats, Brembo brakes, new 20" Sport wheels in standard color, standard exhaust, carbon fiber optional -Base: $35k - 300-330HP (maybe the 400HP version) 3.0V6TT, Cloth interior with no interior contrast stitching or heated seats, standard brakes, standard 18" wheels, standard exhaust, no carbon fiber I don't see them having "tech" or "touring" lines anymore because a lot of tech, such as backup cameras, are standard/mandatory in new production cars in the US. I'm sure the new dash and infotainment will be standard across all configurations as well. I also don't see any version of the new Z being priced above $47k, besides the Nismo when it releases. The new Z is primarily going up against the Supra 3.0 Premium, Mustang GT, Camaro SS, and Dodge Charger/Challenger Scat pack. All of these cars, besides the Supra, start at or below $41k. All of them, besides the Supra, also have anywhere from 455-485hp. The new Supra now being rated for 382hp. Now, of course the GT, SS, and Scatpack will end up weighing nearly 400-1000lbs more than the new Z, but regardless they still deliver good power and some of those cars are still selling really well in the current market. The only way I see the new Z being really successful is by disrupting the competitive market with a complete bargain. The new Z has the potential to do that. I think Nissan will undercut the Supra, but align pricing with the American sports cars it competes with. Last edited by Andaesthetics; 10-15-2020 at 04:47 PM. |

As for the infotainment, while all trims will get the screen standard, only the higher trim levels will get built in navigation and they may also exclude things like (wireless?) Android Auto/Car Play from the base model. As for other tech features, not only are back up cameras mandatory now as you mentioned, 2022 onwards automatic emergency braking will become mandatory on all new vehicles. So while the base model will have to come with automatic braking standard, I see higher trim levels coming with things like adaptive cruise control to keep the 'tech' differential between the low and high trim levels. Recently bought a 2020 Corolla Hatchback SE for the wife, it's the lowest model. It comes with all of that stuff, standard, for $20K. Something to think about, Nissan may include all of the driving aids even on the base trim. |

Hope they make it expensive so that we don't have a bunch of teenagers driving around and crashing them thinking they got a fast car. I've already seen a couple teens with new Supra's

Now, if it's teenagers rolling in new Zs and Supras; then they actually do have a fast car. Last edited by viiv; 10-17-2020 at 11:22 PM. |

Today's standard cars are rolling with 400+. That was back in the days of fast and the furious when we thought 300-400hp were the ****. Nowadays that's hella slow.

I think it will be cheaper than Supra.
The reason is that Supra uses German tech (engine, gearbox..etc.) and (generally speaking) these are probably more expensive than japanese tech. BTW nowadays there is a big sale on the Supra going on (here in Dubai). About 15,000 USD less than the original price. Sent from my SM-G980F using Tapatalk

Sounds about right. I've only seen 2 Supras out in the wild since it was introduced. And personally, I think our 10 yr old design Zs look much better! |

And I have seen a dozen or more C8 Corvettes in the last week. And were I live Tesla Model 3's seem to outnumber Corollas now! But yeah, only 1 Supra. I bet when the new Z comes out you'll see several times more new Z's on the road than BMW Supras. I think the BMW Supra is a tough pill for a Toyota fanboi to swallow. I am very grateful Nissan is making their own car. |

50 to70 k base, in the usa . As the us dollar vs the yen will be the reason as the national debt is now 1.3 the GDP of this/our country .and the yen will remain static.you will never see a new z car in the usa. low mile newer 370 aa condition are selling for Hugh$ today and.not going/offering cars to UK makes almost sure that it is not coming here ,especially as another 2008 depression is just days away .i tried to buy the last 370 nismo in the country , from Texas and the dealer would not budge .he has had it for 300 days in his showroom and has started a price war. i will still try to buy it probably will be over sticker just to have the last Z in the usa.it will make 3 Zs in my hangar.
