Default $35K Starting price

Raiti said in his review that the Z will start in the mid-30s.

This is incredible, if true! It was always said that it would start in the mid-40s.

This would be like the 350Z when its starting price was $26K. Awesome value!

Can anyone "confirm" this starting price point?

I'm going to have to "zonk" Raiti's pricing presumption.

He even admits he doesn't know if it'll be called "400Z", points to a Fairlady Z badge on the car, and continues to call the car 400Z. But where does he get his pricing info?

If Nissan makes the new Z available at $35K starting price, that's going to be awesome.

He says "some people are speculating in the mid 30s" which isn't solid info. However, I still believe the base model car will start between $35k-40k. The car has many parts from the current 370Z and Infiniti models. The only real new parts are the headlights, carbon fiber bits, exterior body panels, and wheels. Just about everything else is from current models. They didn't create a whole new car from the ground up like the new Supra; thus there would be far less R&D cost which means a lower starting price point.

Speculation based on not solid info and your belief system is hardly what I would call confirmation.

I believe that Nissan is still a shitshow at corporate. My hope is they will actually have a 400 hp version of the car when it debuts, but my gut says that one won't be under $40K.

Nissan isn't a charity. Base model 40k, not a grand lower.

Anyone who tells you otherwise is a fool.

Even IF this car was MSRP'd at $35k for the base model/sport model - who actually believes the dealers wouldn't tack on ADM to the price? I definitely think the base model will be either 'just below' or at $40k and then the other models will go up from there.

Regardless while I am excited to see it and can't wait for reviews when we know more especially from the likes of Throttle House or The Straight Pipes. In the end, I know that I wouldn't be able to wouldn't be willing to purchase one new - would rather wait several years to see what and how they perform without taking the 'new car' cost and depreciation hit. I mean, to look to be spending $50k on a vehicle - even if you put down $20k - that payment is going to be close to $600/mo over the course of 5yrs - eh....not sure how I would feel about that (obviously I'm referring to purchasing the Nismo over the base model).

ADM has been crazy lately.

Even when(if) things normalize soon, if Nissan doesn't build enough Z's, there will be ADM with many dealers. These will be hot the first year or two.

Nissan is a company bleeding cash during a pandemic. You really think Nissan executives would have approved a business plan to sell a limited production car anything shy of 39,998 for the base model?

On the flip side - if you are looking to sell your car and don't NEED to purchase one right now - it's probably the best time to sell a vehicle. From what i understand from watching Your Auto Advocate (YouTuber who is a former dealer who talks about things related to wholesale vs MSRP etc) is that the shortage was bad enough bc of the pandemic and now - it's worse bc of the chip shortage so that is increasing the demand for used cars which of course is driving up trade in values that get passed to the consumer.

I know I'll get 'looks' but I really do want a CTR but damn - it is finding a unicorn to get one of those cars at MSRP. And if you want a rare color like the Boost Blue - they add even more ADM to it. And I'm seeing used ones going for close to MSRP if not OVER MSRP (looking at you Carvana). Anyway hopefully the world will be 'back to normal' (whatever that is) by the time this car comes out so it won't be a supply issue creating ADM. I know I can't wait for the new Z.

It's all speculation until Nissan tells us.

My guess is under 40k probably 37k starting.
