About time.. I am both extremely happy and very surprised that Nissan went forward with the new Z. I was not expecting this, especially in this dark time for the world and Nissan's dim future. If it has a manual, it should be a sweet ride and I might pick one up in maybe a few years. For now, I'm happy with both of my current Z's. Looking forward to an interesting future!

P.S... Looks exactly like a 370z under there.. I wonder what's changed other than the engine / interior..

Question is will it live up to the legacy and modding potential of the 370z the VQ is monster motor that can take some serious HP. To get close to what a normal built turbo charged 370z makes your over six figures (the AMS red alpha q60 making 800hp cost almost $105k) most Z's can be made to make that power for under $70k especially now with boosted performance v band clamp twin turbo setup turn key for under $10k. Look I'm excited they are making a new Z it's a long time coming I just have reservations about price and reliability (lots of people with blown vr30 motors). The other thing I am worried about is they make it too technology advanced and cripple the car. I drove a q60 and it absolutely sucks there is no soul in that car. The drive by wire, terrible automatic (thank goodness this will have a manual) and awful exhaust along with terrible soft boring suspension.

Should be interesting to see where they mark this price wise. I'm excited for a new Z, but curious as to how it will all come together. The Z platform is known for having a true driver/car connection, and a great driving experience. Hopefully its not muted in that sense like you were saying about the q60.

To be honest, there are no reliable 800hp 370z's yet. It is not a matter of If they are going to blow a headgasket, it is a matter of when. The ones that are on stock blocks are ticking time bombs.

everyone is worried or happy about the manual option........no.

we should be concerned if they are finally going to add a DCT.

you're all welcome. i'll wait for the praise.

new Z wont be crazy priced. they've mentioned it many times they were staying competitive or below other cars in the segment.

to solve your Q60 issues......DCT and buy the Fast Intentions exhaust just like 90% of people.

no stock exhaust really sounds good.

also......how did we swing a new Z convo into "800whp reliable"?

no 800whp modified car is reliable. maybe a GTR with a $18k shep trans and around $10k in a built bottom end. even then not bulletproof.

as for modding potential of the 370, most monster stock engine numbers you see are not real or they most likely did a hot tune hero pull for the graph with fingers crossed. highly doubt stock block guys run around daily driving on their 700whp tune.

Love that there is no horrible duckbill spoiler. If the tail lights are truly inspired from the 300ZX tail lights, it should be terrific!
1000% an aftermarket duckbill will be produced

I never said the 800hp number was on a stock block the 800hp q60 isn't on one and that's what I was comparing it to. Also speaking of stock numbers people pushing their q60s to 500~ hp are more likely to blow an engine than someone doing a 500~ HP build on a stock 370z block. DCT and exhaust doesn't fix the drive by wire and boring driving qualities. I have doubts Nissan can make a good car anymore however I will be very excited to see them prove me wrong but none of the newer chassis they make are inspiring any confidence. Just my 2c but what does it matter I'm not an engineer at Nissan and everything is pure speculation till people get their hands on one.

Having the Z as the flagship is a step down imo. Let's hope they keep improving on the gtr and keep.

6sp manual is nice, but it wont keep up with bmw supra. Hell Nissan's auto transmission will be there weak point.

The question is, is the wheelbase size going to be the same as the 370z? I hope they dont go shorter like the bmw supra.

Well it can be reliable assuming u dont beat on it all the time.
Beat on a stock car and it wont last long.

Well I'm sure it will last a little longer. But u get my point.

Default Will there be a 2021 Z34 370Z?

These new models Nissan showed off in their YouTube video today are all coming out in the next 18 months.

If the new Z35 is later in the 18 month window, that puts its release date as late as November, 2021! Obviously if this is the case, the Z35 would be introduced as a 2022 model.

So with this kind of potential lead time, will there be one more year; a 2021 Z34 370Z?
