Looking at the hood, roofline, c-pillar...it is almost identical to the z34
Now I wonder how new of a platform is underneath and whether they really did just re-use the z34 with a new engine and tweaked front and rear end

We should hope for parts compatibility
I'm not selling my Z34 to buy a new Z34.5 from a dealer and eating that depreciation i would buy the engine and transmission ESPECIALLY IF THEY MADE A CARB LEGAL SWAP KIT but stuff like a better transmission, brakes, suspension bits, if it all bolted up the way R32/33/34, Z32 and S-chassis stuff basically all was cross compatible for a decade . . . that'd be cool

To cut development costs, they just modified the Z34 chassis. Nissan is not going to spend billions on an all new chassis for a car that is not high volume. Throw in the V6 twin turbo from the Infiniti Q60 Red Sport, a manual transmission, updated interior and tech. Done! They didn't partner with another manufacturer like Toyota did with BMW either. I believe the GT-R is going to be a goner. They just don't sell enough of them to bother. They saw the failure of the NSX which has spooked them. |
