2021 Toyota Supra

The 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 returns and produces 382 hp instead of last year's 335, while torque is 368 lb-ft up from the previous 365. Toyota said the power increase comes from a new six-port dual-branch exhaust manifold (last year's model had two ports), revised heat management, and a new piston design that reduced the engine's compression from 11:1 to 10.2:1.

The increased power output also increases performance with the last year's 0 to 60 sprint of 4.1 seconds dropping to 3.9 seconds, though top speed remains electronically limited at 155 mph.

Why they making changes to an engine that's only been out for one year? Makes one wonder.

i dont think it's an issues with the engine but more on the side that it needs more unlocked to compete.

makes sense to just put it on par with what the engine puts out in the BMW cars that it is in. kinda hurts your sales if a 240 m power outruns you top end toyota sports car.

that was always funny to me when they announced the power figures......then the price

I've seen one here in KC. The owner used to work for Aeromotive. He works for an axle/driveshaft company that makes race stuff.

Most likely not. No way a man or women can shift faster than a zf tranny.

But we know supras hp of 335hp wasnt the real numbers. When it was dynoed, it was closer to 400hp. So the question is, is it just a software tune? Ecu and maybe a TCU tune?

Yeap, just like the old days. I would see many 300zxtt cars and never a turbo Supra back in the 1990's.

I mean sales figures . I just think most enthusiasts interested in a RWD sports coupe want a manual transmission.

Even with the new/cheaper 2.0L Supra being announced I don't see Supra sales improving too much.

I've seen 3 of the new Supras since launch including one this week on my commute. That one could've just been a test drive for all I know. They are very, very rare.

one of the local guys has a widebody one in advan livery.
it looks pretty effin cool. It was cool enough that my non car friends were like "holy sh*t! what is that thing!?"
They never care about cars so that says something.

I think it would be more interesting as a NA car. I think an updated and enlarged VQ with direct injection could make 400 crank hp, and the fact that they're apparently putting such an updated engine into the next Frontier makes it a possibility.

but the VR30 is the obvious choice, so if they do update the Z they'll probably go that direction.
