Technically, that was the 300zx

I hope they don't call it the 400Z... wtf does the 400 stand for? The number was always based on engine displacement, even when it was twin turbo'd.

This sounds great if Nissan can do it right. While Honda messed up the new NSX (New Supercar eXperience) and created a UF458WX (Used Ferrari 458 wannabe eXperience) and Toyota mistakenly used the 10-year-old 370Z as the performance benchmark for the 2019 Supra, this will be the chance for the Z to shine.

Wow all this sounds great, But I think the 400z sounds cliché 400hp these days are too common, if the increased the displacement to even 3.9 then the name would make sense..fingers crossed.

One question, Why are they going to have a 3.0 Liter V6 and name it a 400Z?.... Load of Rubbish!

Power for the new coupé and convertible, which insiders suggest could be called the 400Z
This makes no sense, the Z name has always been in relation to engine displacement.

Quote:
By comparison, the outgoing 370Z has a turbocharged 3.7-litre V6 powerplant that delivers 323bhp and 268lb ft.
Turbocharged?

The highlight of the new Z-car line-up is set to be a four-wheel-drive Nismo version. Due to arrive in 2021, this is earmarked to run a powered-up version of the turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine with a claimed 475bhp and 451lb ft.
There is no way they will release a car that will compete with the current generation GT-R.

Quote:
Autocar understands that Nissan intends to reveal the styling of the new Z car in concept form at the 2018 Tokyo motor show in October
Tokyo motor show is biennial, the next one will be in 2019.

I would strongly advise being skeptical of this article.

It will be a crossover. I’m almost sure of it. Mitsubishi just released the new Eclipse and it’s a damn crossover. Guess who now owns Mitsubishi? Yep, Nissan! There is no money to be made in releasing a pure sports car.

You're only looking at horsepower.
THE Z has the potential to be 400lbs lighter, much shorter wheelbase, lower to the ground and have that traditional Z layout and seating position. I have a camaro. Yes it was that good to drop my Z after many years of ownership but... an updated Z following its true sports car characteristic would be a different experience. It would feel much more special.

The current generation GT-R is already 10 years old and starts losing its charm. The right move is to have a replacement soon or just kill it and let the Z to be competitive in whatever segment they want to compete.

So the replacement GT-R & Z will be called a Z and replace both...

I’d love to see a new Z. But, in the low probability that these rumors are true, this would likely be a badge-engineered Infiniti Q60 Coupe, sharing as many parts as possible.

Unfortunately, that almost certainly would mean no manual transmission, which would mean no chance that I’d buy one.

No stick = no sale for me.

yep, 300Z would be the right name, and it's not a sports car without a manual.

Lol I expect another useless article with: insert *Nissan exec* stating there will be no new Z in the near future...

That 475 Nismo Z sounds good but don’t expect it to come with a manual transmission.
