By the time this car comes out in 2020/2021 as expected 400-475hp will be nothing. Cars like the camaro and stang are already hitting 460hp for under 40k in a chasis that can handle as good as any sports car. Japan in general is just slacking these days

Hopefully they can shed some weight on the next Z to really get the most out of that expected power. It's all about the ratio, not absolute hp/torque.

THE Z has the potential to be 400lbs lighter, much shorter wheelbase, lower to the ground and have that traditional Z layout and seating position. I have a camaro. Yes it was that good to drop my Z after many years of ownership but... an updated Z following its true sports car characteristic would be a different experience. It would feel much more special.

True, but JDM still has the RB26 and 2JZ on their side. Those engines will make any v8 worried.

This sounds great if Nissan can do it right. While Honda messed up the new NSX (New Supercar eXperience) and created a UF458WX (Used Ferrari 458 wannabe eXperience) and Toyota mistakenly used the 10-year-old 370Z as the performance benchmark for the 2019 Supra, this will be the chance for the Z to shine.
