It is well known that both of the TTV6 options are underrated in power. The 300 hp trim likely has around that much in wheel horsepower, not just bhp. The 400 hp version rates just slightly below 400 whp. This means a 370 whp Z35 will have about 430-440 bhp. That power figure puts it right under power levels of current SS and GT editions, except at 400-500 pounds lighter. The power to weight ratio of the next Z will blow the competition away, including with the help of a dual clutch transmission. While the competition will improve right when or slightly after the next Z is released, that power-weight combo is still tough to beat. Having a twin turbo setup allows the car to be easily tuned for higher power to keep ahead of the competition, if needed. The main flaw of 350Z and 370Z is they are naturally aspirated. They cannot be easily upgraded in an affordable and profitable way for a cheap company like Nissan . With forced induction and potentially electric motors coming, that flaw no longer holds back the next Z car. So no, there is no need to worry about Z35 being slower than M2, M3, GT, SS, or whatever. Nothing with a gas engine near its price will beat it. It will even take on cars at 10k-20k higher in price. I just hope we get to see at least one more model of the Z until the entire world is overrun by electric and self-driving cars. Last edited by ToonaFish; 10-22-2017 at 07:01 AM. |

What zs-carpenter said has given me hope. I can’t imagine Nissan 1) celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Z with the same car they celebrated the 40th anniversary with and 2) not having a Z to celebrate with at all. Maybe we will get a surprise this week or at least some positive news.

The 370Z though, that was just swapping paint for a few parts. Remember they did an even bigger upgrade for the last two years of the 350Z. Somehow, espacially the Heritage just feels like Nissan has to get rid of stock of base model parts. Anyway I'd still be surprise to see a new Z in Tokyo at all. I am now just sitting here and waiting for the IDS concept to become a real production car to replace my Focus. |

“The real star of the show for Nissan, however, remains under wraps. Internal sources are being extremely tight-lipped.
What it will not be is the much rumoured replacement for the 370Z. Even in concept form that vehicles is still some time away.” |

Could they end the z? I don't want the z to die. But it seems like Nissan doesn't care about the z anymore. Waiting for the Tokyo auto show to finally give up on Nissan or not.

From some of the rumors I am hearing, Nissan is going 'big' with electric this year.
Many of the cars will be electric versions or current models or variations of the Leaf, CUV leaf, Nismo leaf, etc.

Electric is the new kid on the block. Look at the number of countries, and companies that will be totally electric by 2030's. Gas is dying a quick death. So why would it make sense for a company to bring out a new gas engine car. It don't. Writing is on the wall, and companies are seeing it. What gets me about going electric is that we don't have enough electric generation now to handle the increase in demand. So now we will have to build new power plants that will increase emissions. What we will lose in emissions from the electric cars, will be replaced from the new power plants. It's a no win deal. With electric cars. No more driving across the country. It will take too long to recharge the batteries to make it reasonable. Cars will be limited to about 200 mile round trips. They are trying to make it so that you HAVE to take public transportion. They are trying to get rid of the car all together.

I would gladly drive a GT-R with an electric motor on each wheel

Limited range on electric cars makes it easier to control the movement of the population. The government can easily round up the malcontents because we can't get more than 200 miles away....

The older I get, with the background that I have. The more of the pieces I see falling together on some stuff. And there is stuff that they WILL NOT tell us.
