By the same token, why would Nissan make updates for 2018 sport trims and above, as well as design heritage edition for the base trim, only to gut their current Z34 sales by unveiling a Z35 concept now?
Indeed the GT-R was a bigger facelift with real tuning.

The 370Z though, that was just swapping paint for a few parts. Remember they did an even bigger upgrade for the last two years of the 350Z.
Somehow, espacially the Heritage just feels like Nissan has to get rid of stock of base model parts.


Anyway I'd still be surprise to see a new Z in Tokyo at all.
I am now just sitting here and waiting for the IDS concept to become a real production car to replace my Focus.
