While I am looking forward for the updated Z, I still like the current generation very much. Test drove a 2016 Nismo 6MT a couple of weeks ago. I felt they have perfected this generation. From the suspension to ride/comfort and the manual transmission shifts so much better than the one in the 2009 I used to have.
I am very tempted to pickup a 2015+ Nismo 6MT. |

I don’t think they have made any transmission changes at all. |

I think we all have to be honest with ourselves here. Chances are, we won't see a Z35 or R36 concept any time soon. It may be 2 or 3 years until we see one.
The hints, of such concepts not showing up, are there. Why would Nissan update the R35 just for 2017, only to release the R36 in 2018 or 2019? Right now it seems the next GTR will come in 2020 at the earliest. By the same token, why would Nissan make updates for 2018 sport trims and above, as well as design heritage edition for the base trim, only to gut their current Z34 sales by unveiling a Z35 concept now? These "minor" updates cost money to brainstorm, R&D, and adjust for production procedures. These updates just won't happen for 1 or 2 model years if they have production models of the next generation arriving after that amount of time (in 1-2 years). But who knows? Maybe we are all wrong and Nissan will surprise us with at least one sports car concept either this month or next year. What we do know is the Nismo Leaf and an electric crossover will be there. There are less and less incentives to offer performance cars as the world is being forced to go the way of electric and self-driving cars. In the case that the Z line is discontinued, we can either go with forced induction or jump ship to other brands. Some excellent candidates would be Camaro SS, Stingray, Cayman, Supra MKV FT-1, or used R35. As people age, they tend to make more money so hopefully current Z owners would be able to upgrade to cars like that. |

Yup, definitely not the same vision as when the original Z was created. However times have changed and unless they’re going to manufacture in China or a very poor country, their prices are going to be in line with all the other top notch sports cars.
I’ve owned my M2 for 4 months now, and if the Z is faster plus drives the same or better than the M2, I’d have no objection if it’s in the $55k range. |

Not sure if that is anything to get to excited about. Guess we'll see next week.
