It is mind boggling that Nissan has chosen to go this way. I love my Z and will enjoy it for a few more years, no doubt. But there are other vehicles that are turning me on right now and causing me to think about an early trade-in.

Hmm. I wonder if they didn't want to compete with the new Supra... Consumers may prefer competition, but corporations tend to avoid it.

Looks like I'm getting a gently used 4C.

Man, f#$% that Manuer guy. I cant believe they're keeping us on the hook so much. If you're not gonna build it, just say so already so I can get pumped for a Supra, or even start looking for a nice 240z. Shame on them if that's how theyre gonna honor such an icon for the 50th anniversary. Rant over...

With Nissan shifting direction. Nissan officially changes Nismo moniker to NISAA.

Agreed. I have no problem with them selling Rogues and Altimas all day long. Just use some of the profits to keep the Z relevant. Arguably, it was the Z that put the company on the map in the first place here in the US. Why give up on that?

Because Nissan can make more profit with cars like the Altima--which was mainly responsible for Nissan's resurgence in the early 2000s. I know what you're saying though; the Z put Nissan, Datsun rather, on the map. I wish Nissan had more pride to keep the Z alive. Killing the Z is akin to BMW not having an M car simply because your run-of-the-mill 3 and 5 Series are selling like hotcakes. Oh well, maybe it's time to jump ship to a different platform.

Its entirely possible that Nissan had some issues behind the scenes (to us) recently over emissions standards, so they promptly issued a "Sports cars?! Us?! No, no, our top priority is to build fuel-efficient lean, green, driving machines!" press release.

For example: https://globenewswire.com/news-relea...elReports.html

Nothing's official. In the meantime, keep calm and continue Z-ing

Or it might be entirely possible that Nissan Corp. is just trying to shake us off of their tail and behind the walls, they are developing a wicked Z35. Let's see, only time will tell.

Yeah, where's that famous Japanese pride?

Nissan execs should strongly consider Hari Kari!

Cool Has Nissan given up on our Z?

I am sure most of you have kept up on the news of the "new Z".
According recent updates I have seen, there is really nothing new planned.
Just read&seen pics of the announcement of a 370Z Heritage Edition.
2 colors with graphics including a like-or-hate yellow. Some adds on the exterior.A clutch update. That's about it.
Price?Do not know.
What does this all mean?
Nissan like other vehicle manufactures makes stuff to realize a profit.

Just who now is buying our type of car? After the initial roll out of the Z rebirth
with the 2003 model, many have joined the market.
Very many.
But,how many ready buyers are out there vs pickup,SUV and cross overs?

Seems like a business decision to me on behalf of Nissan.

A really NEW Z needs to be a game changer ,me thinks.
But,what is the cost of this type of NEW sports model?
How many real buyers?

Big questions.

Nissan is not a Ferrari or Lambo with a dyed in the wool culture with ready
buyers anxious to plunk down cash for just a vague prototype being shown.

So,what have we?

We have a very cost effective, fun to drive car that has a huge amount of parts available of both performance and styling . A car that you can be proud to
call your own and not brake the bank. A bit a creative thinking and you
have a "new" vehicle.
I've not done much to my Z34.But,still have my original 03 Z33 That has undergone extensive styling and full bolt-ons&tune for performance.
Many ask if it is the new Z?

Z guys do what is necessary.

Can't wait on Nissan.
Take things into your own hands.

Part of the Z tradition has been it's numerical configurations: 240, 260, 280, 300, 350 and 370. So if they decided to stay true to this, (which they should) then the next Z should be the 380z or 400Z or whatever. We know the number represents the size of the engine, and this is where Nissan would have a problem.

I don't think Nissan is making big liter engines due to emissions. The Q50 400 Red is called that not because of the engine size but fort it's horsepower.

So, Nissan is at a crossroads. If they call the next Fairlady a 400Z based on Horsepower, then they would be braking a 50 year old tradition of naming the car based on the engine size.

I very well think this is it for the Z as it can not continue with this numeration without braking tradition.
