![]() ![]() If and when that new Z comes out, I'm sure it will not look like the C&D rendering. I'm also in the camp that believes it will be 400 hp or just a tad bit more, with only a DCT shared with Infiniti and it will not weigh lighter than our current Z. Below is the list of all cars sold for 2016. Look at the number of two seat sports cars sold and you'll see that it's a very small percentage of cars sold. For a manufacturer to invest big R&D dollars on a one off car, with small sales, just does not make any financial sense and Carlos Ghosn is a $$'s & sense guy. I'm in with you on your specs predictions. I don't see it being a 500hp hybrid like the article hints as a rumor. I see it being 400hp maybe 425hp to separate the Z and the Q. The nismo will be 450hp since they already stated than an ipl version of the Q was on the bill with 450hp. The dct is fine with me if it works. If it's the same one on that cla merc I have at the house god help us. Weight I'd say will be close. The engine is lighter now and whatever extras for safety I think it'll come in at 3350-3450lbs

Where'd you see the info about an IPL version of the Q60? That may keep me out of an RS3 when it hits U.S. shores if it truly has 450hp, firmer shocks, LSD and hopefully a better steering rack. Link appreciated!

What I'm really curious about is if Infiniti will save the dual-clutch units for a performance line to throw against the Ms and AMGs of the world.
When they developed the Q50 Eau Rouge prototype, they said they decided to keep the 7AT as its transmission because they wanted to avoid the harshness that can come with a dual clutch gearbox because it was still a luxury car. If they maintain that philosophy and approach, we could finally see a true performance arm of Infiniti, while the Z gets the performance bits it truly deserves. |
