People have been complaining about that price, not endorsing it. And everyone agrees they want the same size/weight or smaller. Only things they want added are updated tech, which shouldn't add any weight.

If Nissan is thinking about 60k for the top line/Nismo model, they have to consider they are competing with the base Corvette. I won’t consider the pony cars because they are much heavier and their handling is not comparable unless you get the special track developed cars like the Scat Pak, 350r or Z/28. The Corvette is a strong performer and has the weight and power. 450hp and 3300 pounds yields a 7.3 power-to-weight ratio. The Z would have to compete with that level of performance. The Vette handles well in cornering and braking. It has strong acceleration with all the torque the LS puts out. Hopefully Carlos and the Nissan designers take that in consideration.
It is a shame that the original idea of a budget high-performance car, that the 240z was, has gone to the wayside but the world has changed. In the 30k range, you have cars like subayota twins and the base/lower level pony cars. The subayota twins are fun to drive but lack the power and the pony cars have loads of power but lack the handling dynamics. A base level Z could compete in the 30k market if it combined the power of a pony car with the chassis dynamics of the twins but it would have to have around 300hp and light weight. That is where the competitors are now.

Actually it is the new Supra, not LFA. The LFA is Lexus, yes I know its the same motor group, but there is a difference.

Nissan already has the new q60s in the $50k range with the turbo 400hp engine. I would think the Z would be thousands less.
However, I have also read that Nissan may not build another Z simply because of lack of profits and demands, especially if we hit recession in the near future. |

Technically, you are both correct, it is a concept mash up of the LFA and FT1 cars, that people were hoping would become the next Supra.

The new Infiniti Q60 is not unattractive from the sides and rear but the front is hideous. WTF is wrong with the designers that seem to think all cars need ugly, angular, huge, non functional cooling scoops and cowcatcher grills ? These are supposed to be sexy sport coupes, not Transformers. The look is as dated as 1950's tailfins and will not age well. In fact it doesn't even look good now. Too many marques are following these styling trends and I'll wait until they pull their heads out and redesign them to something more handsome.

It's absurd to have the Z remotely close 60k. I can 100% ASSURE you guys it wont come close to that number. The Z has been, and always will be, a budget sports car. Last time I checked 60k (Price of more than TWO 2016 base Zs) isn't a budget sports car. My guess is that the 400HP twin turbo Z will have a base price just under 40k. Maybe 50k for the Nismo.
Anything above that, Nissan is dreaming because no one will be dumb enough to pay 60k for a Nissan (GT-R being an exception) |
