[OFFICIAL] Discussion for the next new Nissan 400Z Z35?

400hp with a turbo 6 is a great starting point. I'm sure it will be pretty easy to make quick cheap reliable power out of it.

personally i think we won't be able to squeeze much more out without jeopordizing the reliability...

i mean we got FI builds pushing in the high 4-low 5 range and been fairly reliable but we are also using a larger displacement engine.

it would be cheaper to change parts though because it's already built into it.

sorta like the sti/cla45 amg engine... they're great and all but how much more can you squeeze out of those small engines before POP?

I think it'll be the other way.

look at the GT-R engine. intake/exhaust/tune they gain 100whp avg and it holds up just fine.

hoping it's a strong well built engine like that vs some lame little block at it's limits stock.

well assuming it's as strong as the VHR engine, same restrictive breathing tubes, and a crappy csc...

yea i think it's possible to have it holding 450whp with intake/exhaust/tune.

the clutch (assuming they even make a manual) will probably be the weak point again making another assumption it'll be similiar conversion into the Z

lotta assumptions... can't wait to see a few on the road and tuners pushing these babies.

and then we get kicked in the teeth and they pull a lexus on us.

make the ECU so hard to crack you can't do squat.

The 2.0 will have to sell around the price of an 1LT Camaro
The 3.0 in between the 1SS and 2SS, STARTING PRICE.

Some of the formulas are common logic and nearly undebateable. If the 2.0 Camaro is 3360lbs right now?
The Z should be able to cut into the same 500lb advantage it had in 2009.

Now... Moving on to technologies. What's going to make the Z cheap is the fact that all our cars are controlled by high gig tablet technology unified to the ECU. That's why the Camaro is so highly appointed at such a low price.

No back seats means less materials to use during build.

The GRIP Z chassis will most likely be the source for the next Z. Being that, the 3 door Juke concept is 2,500lbs with the higher roof line and added weight of all wheel drive. A LOW SLUNG COUPE SHOULD BE LIGHTER. I don't know why y'all making something highly possible, seem impossible? All of the bits are there. Irs all about putting it together.

Somebody compare and contrast styling differences between G37 and Z34 then apply same sorts of changes to production ready Q60 -- and that's probably what we'll get for a Z35.

Anybody up for this?

I don't think they will be using the same chassis though. The Z will most likely be built on the grip z chassis.

The Q60 is an advanced FM chassis.

Oh... The Q60 looks like a"MAXIMA COUPE". Not a fan. The sedan is nicer. All those years waiting for an underwhelming design.

Curious why you think the Z35 will use a GRIP chassis? The Q60 will (more than likely) share the same engine, why not the chassis just like the G37/370?

weight... New technolgy. The Juke platform is the future. Way lighter than the FM.

Using the information below and if you were the owner of a car manufacturing company. What direction would you choose for your new 2 seat sports coupe?

2015 US car sales:
Nissan 370Z - 6,529
FRS - 9,314
MX5 Miata - 7,153 (1,000+ a month for last 4 months, probably due to new design, sales 300 or under prior months)
Nissan Juke - 23,266
Porsche Cayman - 3,064
Corvette - 28,924

If you choose to compete in the inexpensive, small/light, lower powered segment. The 8 year old 370Z is already doing a decent job against the FRS & Miata.

Notice the Juke sales basically equals 370Z, FRS & Miata combined. Nissan may have cancelled the IDX because it feared that this market was too small for another car and/or it would have just taken it's own sales away from the Juke.

I'd opt for the V6TT 400 or higher hp Z and try to keep the price point and weight as close to the current Z as possible. As I mentioned earlier, you'd still at the very least retain your existing sales. Plus you'll steal some from the other small/light competitors and this gives you a real shot of taking a chunk sales from the largest seller in the 2 seat category, the Corvette. Whether you're a big fan of it or not, horsepower does not hamper car sales one bit.
