This is true. It's just rumours.

However, on the 29th January, Nissan UK tweeted a link to this article - New Nissan Z-car concept gearing up for Tokyo 2017 | Auto Express

I don't think Nissan UK would link to fake news, unless of course they're employing Trump to update their twitter feed.

It's really interesting to see what they do with the Z35... I'm worried about the cars for our future though. I feel like they might make them look too futuristic/robotic looking... I hope with the new Z35 the look is similar and they keep relatively the same engine but with a twin turbo. If they swap the VQ for something different that'll be kinda sad :/ I love this VQ engine in our current Z's But if Nissan gets the whp to 400 at least That'd be sweet

All the gains are going to come from other efficiencies aka exhaust. And not everyone can run test pipes, nor should they. So you have that option and tuning. I know there are some Silver S models (SS for short!) which had decent gains with bolt on mods and a tune but a cat-back exhaust, by itself, is netting around 15hp. It's almost the same as the current platform. Little gains for big bucks.

I predict most Red Sports (RS) will maybe see around 440whp with all the bolt-ons and a tune. Not bad but I think 500hp is out of the question (safely).

Edit: The new Z is at least two years away so I wouldn't suggest things one way or another as they could change or "upgrade" the turbos between now and then. I think it's unlikely, given Nissan's snail pace for evolution and propensity to reuse old parts, they'll be any different than what's on the Infinitis. The SS turbos are the same as the RS but the RS has an optical sensor allowing the turbo to be spun faster and closer to it's limit.

This doesn't sit well with me. That sucks! Supra sounding better by the day... As far as Z release. If in fact the concept is shown this fall? The Z has a history of being available within 6 to 9 months afterwards. So we may actually see on next year? If in fact the concept comes out this fall.

FPenvy 03-06-2017 07:29 AM

$60K for next new Z35?

Sooooo if stock turbos are maxed.......change them out for more power.

Dot see the point of people whining about it. If you buy any car and want more power it costs money. Get over it lol

Ape Factory 03-06-2017 07:58 AM

It'd be a problem to swap them out if no replacement exists. Have you taken a look at how the turbos are packaged?

Firebase99 03-06-2017 08:58 AM

We are gathered here today to mourn in the loss of any hope of a Z35...thank you Nissan for fecking us, go ahead and drive your Titan through it now.

P.S. GFY.

Soygen 03-06-2017 09:03 AM

We're less than 3 years away from what will be the 50th Anniversary of the Z. I just sold my 40th Anni a few months ago to get something a bit bigger with a baby on the way(leased a 2017 Infiniti QX50). That lease will be up in Feb 2020. I already warned my wife that if a 50th Anni Z is announced, it's back to a sports car in 2020!

Yea super tight and built into the manifold.

And yes nothing is built yet but it will be.

This is what I keep thinking. The Z34 had the 40th Anniversary model in the second year of release. Seems like the Z35 might be on track for a similar timeline for a 50th Anniversary model :excited:

Time to get one of the setups and see if you can "rebuild" the turbo and bore it out without needing to replace of items.
Would probably be the best aftermarket product if you can use the existing setup but do a little work opening the turbos up and gain power.

$3,000+ to replace turbos, then another $2,000 to increase power minimum? That's corny!!

Except that's a $100k+ vehicle, not a $50k vehicle.

Yea that's true. Still the initial tech will always be a bit costly based on r & d costs.

I missed or forgot that Nissan confirmed (or seems to have confirmed) a Z35 concept for this November.

Sounds reasonable to me, at this point.

There's no official Supra to compare it to yet, but I imagine there will be in Nov.

Volk Z 03-07-2017 08:45 PM

This could be the most epic Tokyo auto salon in a while. If of course Nissan and Toyota bring the Z and Supra out!

mishuko 03-07-2017 09:23 PM

Would be sweet for a z supra shootout at 2017 Tokyo. If they do I'd consider swapping over.

Yes but the Supra will be real and the Z will be vaporware unless they've been running around with a test mule no one has seen or photographed. Kind of a tease but better than nothing, right?

Pretty sure the Q60 was only ever caught on camera after the prototype unveiled. Maybe Nissan is just that good at hiding stuff lol

Volk Z 03-08-2017 10:33 AM

Well if the Supra ends up using the carbon fiber chassis that was originally discussed with BMW then the Z will have to step it up for sure as right there will be significant weight savings.

If Toyota is going after the Z with the Supra then they have majorly FAILED.

Nissan does have 2 testing facilities most people don't know about, one in Japan and one in Arizona....

chubbs 03-10-2017 01:19 AM

Can someone translate from the Japanese? From the cover of this week's edition of Best Car Magazine (the people who started the Tokyo Concept rumour). My Japanese is non existant, so I have no idea what this monstrosity's supposed to be, but it has a Nissan badge, I see the word 'Scoop' and I think I see FRZ in the japanese text somewhere? Help me please...

To me that seems like the proto for the Silvia not a Z

Sidenote it's not bad. Kinda has a merc gts kinda vibe

Ok ... that's a much better perspective. I'm not opposed to that direction

Concepts leave so much to imagination when you think about a finished production model. I mean I like the mirrors on that concept, but part of the reason they look really clean on it is because they literally just stick out of the door panel paint lol. The reality of having to actually mount them could easily destroy the look and often does.

GraphiteZ 03-10-2017 07:59 AM

The headline reads "Nissan Silvia grade FR sport born!?"

These "hints" can be gold man, good find. I remember in '07-ish, sh*t like this was leaking about the Z34 and they werent THAT far off. And it started JUST like this..."Translate this, what is that, etc?"
