the tq band being 350 tq from 1600-5900rpm is pretty impressive.

I think that is a byproduct benefit (deterring people from removing them) - the emissions benefit is likely the primary motive for the move from an engineering standpoint - the cats warm up almost instantaneously, which heavily benefits cold-start emissions (some of the worst in the scope of emissions).

That torque band would be dreamy on the current Z34, much less a revised and more efficient Z35 platform.

There's no way they can't make the Z35 perform right in the pack of the new GM Alpha-platformed cars, the new Mustang GT, or the current Caymans with the potential of this motor.

the cats will be one of the first things to go for me lol :bowrofl:

I mean with this engine it's possible to be right with those cars I mean hell a v6 400hp depending on weight might go after the Camaro SS lol

In all seriousness I hope they bring this to the Z platform even though I doubt I would make the switch. Next car for me will be a new DD and I was thinking of getting a BMW but may consider a Q50 if this thing performs.

yea idk what I want honestly. I mean if the money is right it's a gTR without question but if not I really hope theres a new Z with this boosted engine. could hold some promise and hold me over until the GTR comes home lol

I hope you're right, Q60 400hp is most likely in the cards for me if 6mt.

Nissan has said they want the z to go more fuel efficient and lightweight . That usually means a turbo 4 cylinder... There is no new z confirmed the Infiniti is pretty low in reliability and resale value. They do have great lease deals though

The Z will get the motor its just a matter of when they wan't to drop the new z35 and they will also have to make a nismo version :eekdance:

So who all is going to the Detroit Auto Show next month to bug the Nissan reps for some Z info?

Are Infinitis not reliable? I expect them to be about as reliable as Nissans for obvious reasons.

The turbos are cute. It won't be long 'till the mods come. On car and driver they talked about "a small electric motor to the valve timing to increase throttle response". So VVEL will carry on? Also I hope they wont replace the hydraulic steering with electric for the new Z.

So anyone have similar pics of the Merc engine? I'd really be curious if this is in fact a Nissan or Merc motor after all the rumours.

Pretty sure someone already posted the specs on the engine and yes it is a purely nissan developed engine based off of the gt-r's vr38dett

They are very reliable. I am on my 2nd one, and very happy.

There is a Z confirmed, I posted a link couple of weeks ago on this thread that Nissan is committed to making a new z even more so than the mighty gtr.
