The new engines are nice, but I am not sure they will offer a manual transmission option at least for the Z.

The Q60 coupe supposedly retains a 6MT. The Q50 will be 7AT only.

makes sense since the Q60 is the coupe more sporty version.

I kinda dig it body wise. engine i'm sold on though.

Yup, basically t his is a NISSANIZED Benz engine.

Umm what?

This is a VR engine. Last I checked that was Nissan's design. Lots of turbo cars use air to water cooler, does that make them all Benz engines? :ugh:

I really like the Q50, sans the direct adaptive steering. I wouldn't mind consolidating cars and only having a Q50. But knowing I have a TT engine under the hood, it'd probably become family unfriendly within months of ownership :D

FPenvy 12-16-2015 09:49 AM

well the 2.0 is a merc engine I thought? lol

yea I would wait for someone to do some mods to make sure it wont go boom if you add just a little power butttttttt I mean breather mods instantly will unlock some power in a turbo setup.

what im curious about as stated before is the integrated manifolds and the cats listed as being tucked up high to the block (no pics to show location yet).

True, I thought we were discussing the VR 3.0 TT though. Whatevs!

Knowing Nissan though, in 5 years I bet every single infiniti will have this engine. Wonder if they'll make a transverse version as well or stick with the VQ for Nissan applications

For sure. I won't even consider this engine until the 2nd or 3rd year. I don't like to be a guinea pig haha.

This kind of gives you an idea:

oh I know I have been analyzing those pics. manifolds look odd but cool lol the way the new cats were described seems like they're tucking them up tight as possible to quicker engine warm up times but I feel that may just be dumb throwing more heat closer to the block. idk im not an engineer lol

some nice downpipes will hopefully knock the cats right out of there :yum:

Yeah I think this is solely for emissions. Honda has been using the integrated manifold on their J-series v6s for years, which brings the precat up closer so everything heats up faster. Counter productive for power applications I'd imagine.

keep oem mani's but straight pipe it would be my plan of attack. also would wrap the DP's they end up being all tucked and whatnot. keep some of that heat out of the footwell on the inside lol
