It's pretty badly done and ugly.

Not sure where you read that as several of the companies higher ups including ghosn have been quoted as stating that the Z will be a part of the companies line up for a long time to come

Dwight Frye 07-15-2016 03:50 PM

The new Infiniti Q60 is not unattractive from the sides and rear but the front is hideous. WTF is wrong with the designers that seem to think all cars need ugly, angular, huge, non functional cooling scoops and cowcatcher grills ? These are supposed to be sexy sport coupes, not Transformers. The look is as dated as 1950's tailfins and will not age well. In fact it doesn't even look good now. Too many marques are following these styling trends and I'll wait until they pull their heads out and redesign them to something more handsome.

jaedub 07-15-2016 04:09 PM

It's absurd to have the Z remotely close 60k. I can 100% ASSURE you guys it wont come close to that number. The Z has been, and always will be, a budget sports car. Last time I checked 60k (Price of more than TWO 2016 base Zs) isn't a budget sports car. My guess is that the 400HP twin turbo Z will have a base price just under 40k. Maybe 50k for the Nismo.

Anything above that, Nissan is dreaming because no one will be dumb enough to pay 60k for a Nissan (GT-R being an exception)

COSMO 07-15-2016 04:39 PM

I have to agree, I don't like the front of the q50 at all It's very boring..

Nissan already said, THERE WILL BE BOTH A NEW Z N GTR.

If a recession hit, you'll be reading about what they're doing with Z's in Japan vs owning one and doing it yourself.

Changing subject...

How Nissan can make a $60K Z? This is how!!

Nissan SPECIFICALLY stated they want to make a lighter car specifically reminiscent of the original 240z.

So if anything was to fall through the cracks in rumors or speculations. It would be likely the z would be a 4banger only and would start under $30k. The next Z if I speculated. The 4 banger will be between 2,800-2,900lbs. n the turbo 6 if they even make it would be 3,000-3,100lbs...

Let's say they build a topline, Nismo is 450HP, it would most likely be the model that is 3,100lbs. It would have a 6.8lb power to weight ratio vs the corvettes 7.3.

So if we're trumping up numbers of the top of our head. The Z would would win. Especially if the Z remains, hydraulic with a handbrake. The corvette would quickly become obsolete. It would be the most driver focused car because it will be the only analog car with a personality. While all the others will have numb electric steering.

I don't think people would pay $60K for a Nissan outside of a GT-R, and I don't think Nissan will test that theory.

But we'll see.

For the top of the line Z35 it will almost be 60k.

Prove it.

So far this is just you and some other guy backing up each other's claims that it will be $60K with zero basis in fact.

Link me to a press release from Nissan.

NRTim 07-15-2016 10:03 PM

Some of y'all are funny, the Z is not a luxury car like the Q50/Q60 so I don't know why some of you are comparing pricing between the 2....

It is definitely not an LFA. I has a lot of FT1 in it, but there are differences as well. If those are photoshop differences or not I couldn't say.

In any case I only posted them together as I saw a lot of design similarities between that one and the Z rendering directly above it.

Dirk McGurck 07-15-2016 10:36 PM

No, the Z rendering has a taper tail, like the 240Z. That Toyota 'shop fail has a wider wedged ***.

brucelidat 07-16-2016 12:00 AM

my next car will probably be a z35, supra or if I want something a bit more 'luxury', a q60 (possibly used)

Davey 07-16-2016 06:07 AM

The clickbait garbage article about the turbo hybrid powertrain $60K 2017 Z in the OP of the other thread must have fooled them and they are too stubborn to admit they were wrong.

I won't be too stubborn to admit I was wrong when Nissan comes out with a $60K Z, but I am pretty sure I won't have to because Nissan is not so stupid as to price the Z high enough to make the competition that much more attractive.

I have to agree with you on this one. The "next supra" is a highly anticipated car (and of course we don't know when this is coming) the Z35 will happen as Nissan already said there will be a new Z and new GTR. It's just a matter of waiting.

You fvcked up when you used the word "WILL". All this shyt here is speculation. All of it. The thread title is $60K for a Z based on information in the "rumor mill". The other guy I guess is me, only CREATED A SCENARIO where this would be probable. Considering all the body bracing and track bits that underpin a Nismo. Considering an estimated 3,100lb weight that would be lighter than a better up to 300lbs depending on packaging and the arena that Z would be competing against if it existed. M4, Jaguar F-Type S. Porsche Cayman R Corvette Grand Sport, BMW/Z4/possible Z5, The upcoming Supra, Alfa Romeo 4c and Fiat 124.

Problem here is everyone wants to believe the Z can't go upmarket when in fact it can if they make an affordable 4 banger for the whiners and a high powered premium handling car for the winners. They corner the market by offering to the successful and the broke azz alike. Just like CAMARO & MUSTANG DO! I don't see why some of you complicate these concepts so much.

brucelidat 07-16-2016 11:54 AM

I have a friend who is working on the design of the z4 and he says he has seen some sketches for the Supra and he expects it to come out similar to when the z4 does which is 2018. That might be when they strat production so possibly 2019. Either way, expect the z4 and new supra in '18 or '19. BTW, he said I will want the Supra.

That's a lot of typing for such a simple point.

The other guy said "it will be" and then agreed with your speculation as if it backed up his assertion. No need for 12 paragraphs explaining that you are speculating.

My whole point was always that it is all nothing but speculation, and that it is as stupid and pointless as magazine racing. Have fun with that I guess. :icon17:

It'll be so cool to work on those secret jobs/projects with car manufactures. They are probably under oath and under a ton of security to not spill the beans. So cool. :tiphat:

brucelidat 07-16-2016 05:02 PM

Well, he's been a car designer at BMW for 7 years now. He's in town for a few months at their studio in California. He had a m4 for 2 weeks and I got to give it a go in the mountains here.

Lol those employees are doing a damn good job keeping those secrets under wraps, I wonder if one of those Nissan employees gonna do something stupid and drive the next gen prototype Z out in the open....

If it's so stupid? Then why are you even giving it any energy? Grow up man... always gotta downplay when points are made instead of just STFU and accepting you went to far left with your comments.

Except cooler

ChaseZ 07-16-2016 10:41 PM

"Let's speculate out loud, k?"

"Yeah and let's take it personally when we do. My speculation is so much better than yours!"

"Shuddup your speculation sucks"

"You suck"

:stirthepot:

Nobody's opinions are covered in diamonds here guys. It's fun too speculate, sure, but that's all it is. I don't get the whole I'm right your wrong thing. None of us are right, none of us know sh*t about it, deal with it lol

There. Now I'm the only one that's made a right comment in the entire thread :happydance:

And keep the renderings coming, I really like seeing those.

Word. That's why I stick to FI only these days

edk370 07-18-2016 09:48 AM

Well folks, the 370 was leaked a few months before its debut. I think it was Nov or Dec of 2008. They were "released" for sale Feb of 2009. So I would assume that Nissan will let the cat out the bag about 3 months prior to the Z35's release....They don't do it 6 months or earlier....because they don't want to give potential customers anxiety, because it's like a double edged sword: If the diehard Z people are anxiously awaiting its release, they don't want to disappoint them by any sort of delays e.g. bugs, underdevelopment, potential safety recalls, etc. Or, if it's those people who never owned a Z i.e. pretty much those who aren't loyal to any make, they will veer towards a different car if that one is better than the new Z. In other words, they don't want to give diehard Z people blueballs, but are also afraid of getting upstaged by another automaker.

So when the Z35 is leaked, you can assume its release will be about 3 months later.

I check this thread everyday hoping to see some solid info, only to be utterly and completely disappointed by it. And most of the rest of the forum to be frank lol.
