2018 Nissan 300Z
Read this today:
(again, sorry if already posted somewhere) 2018 Nissan 300Z May Be Ideal Successor Of 370Z By Mario Caballero "The Nissan 350Z and 370Z are both getting on in age now and both are just screaming out for a successor to arrive. Now we are hearing that the 2018 Nissan 300Z is being developed and it will be the ideal successor when it arrives on the market next year. The vehicle has the name of the Nissan 300Z due to the fact that it offers the 3 litre twin turbocharged V6 engine. The 2 litre one is going to be the same one that was given to the new version of the Infiniti Q50 Red Sport. The vehicle is going to offer a refined engine of 430 horses as opposed to the 400 horsepower and this should make the 2018 Nissan 300Z that bit more special along with it being more attractive. People also hope that the 2018 Nissan 300Z might come with a retro look, such as that offered by the Fiat 124 Spider. If it does then the vehicle is going to offer plenty of flair and it should also make it more attractive than the 370Z." |
This isn't really any new info unfortunately. In before the move to the $60k thread.

Not that MOST of us respect C&D but, in there top 25 cars worth waiting for.... Infiniti Q60 is in there... The hypothetical but highly unlikely Mazda Rx-9 is in there. Guess what's not in there? Lol.
2017 Mercedes-AMG GT R: 25 Cars Worth Waiting For – Feature – Car and Driver That's right... you guessed it! The next generation Z. Lol. Nissan better cause a fvckin upset to the car industry and make the competition need to step up like with the 370z in 2009. And with a turbo engine. It should be easy to tweak and adjust for more power when the competition switches up. Unlike our VQ engines. |
Most of those are 2017 models, aren't they? or 2018 models due in 2017?
|
with what you posted yesterday about the zl1, i would rather get that 100 times over a 60k z

what i was referring to, in a different thread

i don't think it's too heavy at 3,800 and 640hp. that's about 1hp per 6lbs..
also that's what they think it will weigh, might be less might be more. got to wait and see |
Hey guys!! Any news on a new Z?

I wonder wat the next Odysseys get cause they faster dan any z
|
You want fast with 700-lb/ft torque, AWD, no sea level air density concerns, just get a Tesla Type S with the Ludicrous option and 0-60 in 2.6sec. (quicker than a new Z06 Vette.) Otherwise, I'm just fine with my '12 Touring Z. 400+ HP just won't get it. We'll see if the new Z is any prettier than the existing 370z. It's all in the eyes of the beholder. I'm good with all the compliments I get now...... until I can afford that 1966 Shelby 427 Cobra S/C that I really want.... which BTW isn't as fast as that d*mn Tesla!

If the new Z is remotely like any of the various artist renderings out there on the net, then I'm glad as hell that I got a Z before the redesign. All of the renderings, and I DO mean all of them are freakin' hideous.
Personally, I think the best looking Z's out there are the original 240's, the Z32 300's, the 350's and 370's. And whenever they come out with the new Z, I hope they do the smart thing and have retro 240Z styling. |

Uggghhhh the current sketch floating around is reminiscent of the 240z red white n Blue car from back in the day.... http://bringatrailer.com/2011/09/01/...280z-race-car/ http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53...mtid=824&kw=lg |

If you're referring to this thing, I'm still glad I got mine. That one looks like it was smashed in the rear by a Mack truck. Thanks, but not thanks.

$60k, i was hoping for 40k i mean its not like they'll put a nice interior in it, its a nissan. twin turboing a car doesn't cost $30k and that price point is what made the 350/370z so appealing IMO starting at 29k I mean come on...

That's an LFA.
|
ITT: People want to turn the 370Z into a bloated upscale luxury turd instead of just buying an RC F.
Oh wait we're not to the "$60K for the next Z" thread yet. Well, I'll just wait right here then. Or how about this is the "$40K for the next Z because it's a ******* Nissan" thread? |

U not getting 400+HP on a light chassis for $30K. Ur dreaming!! |

People have been complaining about that price, not endorsing it. And everyone agrees they want the same size/weight or smaller. Only things they want added are updated tech, which shouldn't add any weight.

Not that it matters at all what we think or how much anyone says it will cost or what it will look like at this point. |
If Nissan is thinking about 60k for the top line/Nismo model, they have to consider they are competing with the base Corvette. I won’t consider the pony cars because they are much heavier and their handling is not comparable unless you get the special track developed cars like the Scat Pak, 350r or Z/28. The Corvette is a strong performer and has the weight and power. 450hp and 3300 pounds yields a 7.3 power-to-weight ratio. The Z would have to compete with that level of performance. The Vette handles well in cornering and braking. It has strong acceleration with all the torque the LS puts out. Hopefully Carlos and the Nissan designers take that in consideration.
It is a shame that the original idea of a budget high-performance car, that the 240z was, has gone to the wayside but the world has changed. In the 30k range, you have cars like subayota twins and the base/lower level pony cars. The subayota twins are fun to drive but lack the power and the pony cars have loads of power but lack the handling dynamics. A base level Z could compete in the 30k market if it combined the power of a pony car with the chassis dynamics of the twins but it would have to have around 300hp and light weight. That is where the competitors are now. |

look again |
Nissan already has the new q60s in the $50k range with the turbo 400hp engine. I would think the Z would be thousands less.
However, I have also read that Nissan may not build another Z simply because of lack of profits and demands, especially if we hit recession in the near future. |
Technically, you are both correct, it is a concept mash up of the LFA and FT1 cars, that people were hoping would become the next Supra.
|
Rendering on the previous page looks kinda like the toyburu.
I like it, but would prefer a more unique look. |
